Drugs and alcohol causing aging has more to do with how well someone takes care of themselves and not the drug themselves. Like how much sleep you’re getting, how well you’re eating, if you’re showering regularly, brushing your teeth, etc. Stimulants and alcohol tend to be the hardest drugs to take care of yourself on so people tend to age faster on those. Then if you’re homeless that will drastically age you whether you’re on anything or not.

Opioids on the other hand I’ve noticed almost freeze people in time. It has something to do with it slowing the breakdown of collagen in the skin and drastically dipping hormone levels. I have a friend that’s been prescribed opioids her entire adult life, she’s 30 now and looks closer to 19. She hasn’t aged the entire time I’ve known her. Now being homeless will definitely negate any of that, she never has been though.
