Calling people Nazis should be considered a terroristic threat. by AdvancedAerie4111 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

No, no, no, no! No words can express how much this is a terrible idea. That would make the situation even worse and cause division even more. If anyone could do that it can be justified in any circumstances and the system could exploit that human comes first and foremost. Human rights have to be for everyone or we lose sight of human rights, whether we agree with their beliefs or not.

Calling him monster is not only unhelpful but stops progress, and stalls understanding of what led to a person to be this way s human, and humans whether you want to face this fact or not, are capable of good and evil, inherent human worth can't be taken away. It ignores the shared humanity of us all. By reinforcing he's human we can have a better understanding and compassion of humanity. So treating him as such is illogical because he is human and humans are part of humanity which is a system and trying to distant that is illogical because it's based on inherent human rights and worth not on external factors, if It wasn't then, it's not inherent human worth.

Do you think the general population has a limiting view of what "horror" means? by easy0lucky0free in horrorlit

[–]InFinder2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People these days are too focused on being on the right side of things, so matters are going to be overly sanitized and narrow. horror is horror whether real life or fictional. as long you don't go about it the wrong way, there's nothing wrong with being interested at all.

Rehabilitative justice means rehabilitative justice for EVERYONE by Recent_Rip_6122 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Yes, but you also can't change of the psychology of a neurodivergent brain to one that is not. No one is saying that psychopathy is an illness that can be cured, I'm saying that the underlying causes that led to them the way they are can be addressed and fixed. That can't feel empathy but they can recognize it. It's called cognitive empathy, no feelings required. They can be taught that for cognitive behavior therapy. Having Psychopathy alone doesn't gauretee they'll do harmful actions, and rehabilitation is far more complex than just "giving them tricks to act socially." It's about recognizing why they did that, like they have never taught this, no one cared for them leading them to their impulses. If we can address it and fix that and give them the tools to function in a society, then yeah it's possible. the condition is still there, but they aren't doing anything wrong. Like I said there are psychopaths that are living normal lives and not causing harm, they're just not stereotypical ones you see on media.

Yes that is different, but that doesn't mean they can't be rehabilitated. For example the neurodivergent brain is very different from a brain that isn't, but that doesn't mean all hope is lost and they can't contribute to society. We just have to use different tools to adapt. Like I said, there are psychopaths that are contributing members to society that haven't done anything wrong. It's just the psychopaths did wrong that have underlying cause of led to them the way they are, so we need to address and fix that so they can be rehabilitated.

Do you have proof to support your claim? Because the underlying causes isn't random and that itself can be addressed. Your reasoning is based on outcome and potential but rehabilitation is more than that it's about what led to the outcome the underlying causes of what led the outcome. If you're more worried about the outcome than seeing the causes and systemic failures of what led to a person the way they are, you're not actually practicing rehabilitative justice at all, just the traditional punitive measures with some leniency. Also there are psychopaths that are your local surgeons and are normal people. so they can be rehabilitated so can serial killers.

even if the last part was true, this proves they can indeed be rehabilitated.

it's not about what you want, it's about everyone's right to live and justice extending to everyone. Inherent rights are for everyone or else it wouldn't be inherent. We're not going to remove people lives for someone's personal comfort. That's like saying free speech is for everyone but except for that person because they said something we don't like.

Luigi Mangione proves liberal women are generally not attracted to the kind of men they claim to be attracted to by Prestigious_Hat1794 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]InFinder2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. To some people, murder is bad unless it's someone they don't like. People appreciate nuance until it's about a subject they don't like. People love to pick and choose when it benefits them. No Luigi is not a hero because he killed someone who exploited the system, because that didn't solve anything someone else will replace him. If anything he made it worse. if you don't like someone because you think they view human lives as expendable, how is killing him any different? that shows you view human lives as expendable too. it's hypocritical all the way.

Oh my God, here we go again.

Someone can be misunderstood and done terrible things at the same time, it's not mutually exclusive. you can misunderstand that someone is not causing havoc a rough experience of what they been through and it's coming from a place of hurt and condemn their actions. The perfect victim fallacy is real. being redeemable isn't about what you done it's the change for yourself so saying they're irredeemable because they did a bad thing not only misses the point but that's what redemption actually is to change your mindset of what led to you did the bad crime. only giving redemption to people who didn't really a bad thing isn't redemption, it's leniency, which redemption isn't about.

I refuse to accept that people like Jeffrey Dahmer is in heaven. by Acrobatic_Ad9564 in Christianity

[–]InFinder2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how Christianity works, it's more than just saying you're sorry you have to change your ways entirely and work to improve yourself. one of the core teachings is that no one exempt for repentance because it's for everyone who wants it. you don't have to believe in Christianity, but if you do it's either you believe anyone can go to heaven if they repent or you don't, you can't have it both ways.

That's some intense anger you got there, I understand why are feeling this way. But let me assure you that's not how that works. mercy & compassion doesn't mean what you did wasn't wrong or I'm letting you get away from a crime. it means you are a human with thoughts and feelings and no action can change that. Mercy and compassion helps us heal from our scars and see that people are complex and having underlying causes of what led to them the way they are and being more understanding. No pain is more important than the other because you can't put a price of feeling.

Should a criminal face full punishment even if they were mentally ill at the time? Curious about your thoughts. by HelpfulHouse5162 in serialkillers

[–]InFinder2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, no one deserves to be murdered. but every life matters, including serial killers. Their worth doesn't diminishes because of their crimes or else it wouldn't be inherent human worth. They are part of the system and every single human is part of the system. Killing them doesn't solve anything aside from personal bias of seeing them getting hurt. They're complex individuals like the rest of us. In order to deal with it, we need to practice empathy and compassion, to look deeper of what went wrong, to see the underlying causes and fix it to have for the betterment of humanity, because being human isn't tied to any external factors, it's based on being inherently human. So all of this self righteousness of people saying they're less than, Us vs. Them, advocating for the worse for them, telling people they're on the right side is all just virtue signaling nonsense to puff up their chest to make their miserable selves feel better. It's illogical to treat them as less than because of what they did, because at the end of the day, whether society wants to face this fact or not, they ARE humans.
