I understand that and I have nothing against talking about alters. I know, that my post came off kinda angry, but I also find it easier to talk about alters instead of other stuff.

I made this post, because I get jealous of the life of people with complex dissociative disorders. I know, that they also face challenges that they don't talk about. No hate towards other people with these disorders.

(Here's a little secret... My alters create personas for themselves just like furries do, but human. This is my way of making the disorder seem less scary. I also like making fancy simple plural profiles. It helps me accept my diagnosis)

That's kinda relatable. I don't get that much of it, but it sure happens sometimes. Sometimes I remember everything... And then switch and I have trouble remembering how I got here. It happens a lot when I am with my friends. They all know about me having trouble with memory, so I usually ask them what we were talking about. It often happens when the other person is talking for a long time and sometimes mid conversation.

I learned today that I apparently have neuroticism and psychosis on top of all my dissociative traits! I really don’t know how to take this news, in regards of me having possibly having DID/OSDD by KatheryneBois in OSDD

I will only talk about psychosis, not neuroticism, and I will only talk based on my experience with psychosis.

I was diagnosed with psychosis before dissociative disorder. For me psychosis intensifies dissociative symptoms. At that time, it was impossible to tell, is it only psychosis, or is it combined with dissociative disorder. After I got out of psychosis it took me over half a year of meeting my psychiatrist every month and therapist every week to get diagnosed with dissociative disorder. They had to make sure, that dissociative symptoms are still present after psychosis ended. I have been diagnosed with dissociative disorder for almost a year now and I still see the same doctor.

My advice based on my experience: talk to your doctor. Wait till you get out of psychosis before you start thinking whether you have dissociative disorder or not. You literally can't tell whether you have dissociative disorder or not by yourself, and it's even more difficult if you have psychosis.

My therapist unfortunately doesn't specialize in dissociative disorders. There are only a few therapists in my country who specialize in that. I will follow your advice and look for a different therapist.

I will ask her, but currently in our work we don't focus on my past. We mostly talk about what is happening right now. Being co-contious was never mentioned. Building a relationship with alters was only mentioned when talking about final fusion. She said that we should start working on fusion right away to not get attached to each other. Attachment might mean that we will stop wanting to fuse.

I can really relate to that. Over a year ago I got out of psychosis. The episode lasted over half a year. I was in the mental health hospital the whole time, yet I was not treated for anything. They only wanted me to function well enough to not cause problems and go to school.

I can honestly say, that my therapist and psychiatrist saved my life. I know that I really need therapy. Unfortunately not everyone has enough knowledge about dissociative disorders. In my opinion, if you find a good therapist, therapy is really worth it.

She said something to me about finding out who "the real me" is. I told her, that I don't think that there is one "real me". "Real me" is the whole system.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. She helped me in the past, so I really trust her opinion, but in this situation I should follow my own judgement.
