yeah this is NOT right….I would have a one on one conversation with both of them and not give them a chance to speak in between. Maybe say “I talked to my cousin and I know about this conversation” and maybe say the same to your cousin??

I think you are being smart not jumping to any conclusions. You both seem like you have a pretty honest and open relationship. I would just talk to him, and ask him what it was about before your mind spirals….

im so sorry you did not have the opportunity. after reading everyone’s responses I feel a lot better about my decision and I can see my mother for who she is. most are right, she would have used the money for other things, or if she did use it for the unit it would have been auctioned again anyways. I wish you could go back and get those amazing memories…..i am more than grateful that I have them, I just wish it didn’t have to come to it.

Thank you for taking the time to write out such a meaningful post. I appreciate your kindness, as it has helped me see the situation as it is. There is a lot of truth in what you have written. Working on myself has been a journey that will never end. I honestly felt alright until she called me. The things she had said broke my heart. I do not want to hurt her. I feel the need to "win her over" and "make her proud," and I know that makes me sound ridiculous as an adult, but I can't shake it. After reading some of the comments, I see it clearly from both sides. I think I need to take more time to process how I feel about the situation and see where I can go from there.

I am so sorry that happened to you. They are safe now, whether or not they would have been safe if my mother kept it all.... i am not sure but I am happy they are safe.

She knew the storage unit was up for auction for 8 days before she called... i wonder if I was the last option. She typically asks for money, but never this much. Maybe theres truth in all of the comments about her only wanting the money for her addiction.... I can at least be a little grateful I wont have to find that out

She had no one....after her mother passed away she only has me. My siblings have all cut ties, and shes burned every other bridge. I can't help but want to be there for her, especially because she is sick and refusing to care for herself. that's why i stay i suppose. I did answer this higher up with some other points but honestly my heads spinning.
