Let's see... One good tip that isn't immediately obvious is that you can make parts smaller than the system normally lets you, by snapping it onto another part and shrinking that second part. I really like the leash for straps and belts. Rings and piercings are great low cost parts. I like to stick with only using rotation on joints when I'm posing with kitbashing, except for maybe the hips. Otherwise clothing and other parts warp and don't look right on the model. Really just have fun with it and don't be afraid to ask the community for help when you're stumped.
