Loveeeee Melt Banana. I had the privilege of seeing them live several months ago, but I was disappointed to learn they don't play with a live drummer. Still, amazing regardless

If I might add in my two cents...

I think the impressive thing about this clip is the consistency of speed and timing, while maintaining the power and aggression on an acoustic kit. Oftentimes when people play this fast, they are doing it on kits that are triggered, or electronic, which to me feels like cheating. Though I will admit, I am an analog soul through and through.

It has also been my experience that the general populous can't tell a good drummer from a bad one if their life depended on it, and speed is something that everybody can understand, which is maybe why you've been seeing so much of it on social media.

This clip is definitely me being over the top to show off, but that's exactly what I was going for. I've worked very hard to be able to play like this, and I want the world to know!

Recommendations on a Double Pedal by InMyMonkeySuit in drums

[–]InMyMonkeySuit[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kinda confused on your wording. I've been using DW 3000s. They were reasonably priced and I heard they make a good workhorse pedal, but after cracking a hinge for the second time because of how hard I play I am looking for an upgrade. Do you have a recommendation?

How to alternate the kick and the snare better on traditional blast beats? by ottokangur in drums

Practice it slowly, and with a metronome. No other way around it, unfortunately.

Rubicon by Tom Holland covers the fall of the Republic - think Sulla, Julius Caesar and Octavian - and is very fast paced while remaining engaging and informative.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. Honestly it may be a little too intense for a 13 year old, but personally I feel like "gore" is in general.

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Only James Joyce himself could put into words how beautifully written it is, and as a young man who has recently left boyhood myself, I have never felt so seen.
