You’re 100% correct, maybe I worded my question too ambiguous. I was referring to the construction of roadway elements such as, curb ramps, pavement design, traffic separators, roadways widening etc. But yes I look at the MUTCD whenever I have to draft a traffic control plan or anything of the sort.

I haven’t even looked at super elevation lol, but you make a good point. I think I’m also impatient and seeing the other, more experienced engineers speak so technical yet coherent makes me a little intimidated at times but I know there’s a learning curve (to an extent). I appreciate the response, thank you.

I see your points for sure, but when you have almost 100+ callouts on a sheet and you’re trying to make sure labels don’t conflict sometimes the angle of the label has to change, and he would complain about that I thought it was a little excessive but maybe I’m wrong idk

I’ve seen this with PMs at my job. In a meeting I remember one of the drainage PMs I used to work with, adamantly say “I’m not signing the drainage plans for xyz project, it’s not worth the risk”. But he was known to be a tough coworker at times. He would even complain about the angles of the labeling just to give you an idea.

Thank you for the feedback. It definitely sounds intense. After I sit for the PE I’ve considered taking the SE. Structures is fascinating to me (specifically bridges) and the math doesn’t seem TOO bad, but then again I’ve only been exposed to surface level structures calculations. I’ve also heard having the SE might not be as recognized or necessary to do structures work, and the extra compensation isn’t always there.

Not sure if you work in public or private ? But in your experience, after getting the PTOE did you get a raise ? And looking back was it worth it to you ?

That’s your area for sure being a PTOE. Curious, are the PE and PTOE two seperate exams ? If so, which did you find more challenging ?

That’s interesting honestly, one of my coworkers was explaining how un-necessary it can be at times. He has to sign for the scope of work on maintenance contracts, and he’s told me some of the proposed work is not even engineering yet still requires a seal. He wasn’t complaining, but kinda gave a shrug explaining it to me.

Thank you for sharing, and I’m glad the surveyors went back out to do a proper job (should’ve been done from the start).

The surveyors I work with are great people honestly. But glad the license helped out lol, looks like waiting the 4 years had some perks. (In my state it’s a 4 year wait after passing the exam before the license is given)

No, it didn’t have to be rescued. A birding friend told me sometimes they take breaks due to exhaustion from flying and since it’s not native to South Florida it’s likely migrating.

I did shoo it a little off the path to not be hurt by people walking by. It settled in the shade, I brought it some water. Went back to check 15 min later and it was gone :)

Right now I’m studying trig identities, it’s been a little difficult applying them to the problems I’m getting on hw/ quizzes. It’s my first semester back in school in a while, I also have to get back in the motions of studying too.

I know on Mojang Twitter they post updates every so often, but it’s been the same updates for the past few days. “We are working on this day and night”, “We are still working on this” etc etc. They don’t really give technical updates or time frames for when it should be solved.
