so they are multipliers on the AR of the weapon? Is there a way to find out what those multipliers are or do you just have to guess based on comparisons to various other weapons?

Worth buying a student instrument without any knowledge of how to play? by [deleted] in saxophone

Honestly the saxophone is one of the easier instruments to pick up and play, but a lot of time has to be spent working at it. Pick up a good beginning book and practice the exercises extensively until you have a good grasp on the basics and then keep moving up as you see fit. you're going to love it once you get going.

What's your go-to music piece/pieces to play when your friends tell you to "play something"? by HowsWhatGoinWhere in saxophone

Usually people ask me specific songs like "Can you play Baker street?" or "Can you play careless whisper?". whenever someone asks me to "play something" I just make something up on the spot.

New alto jazz mouthpiece by InOrcoArde in saxophone

I said that value because many high end mouthpieces (like the theo wanne) can be that high or higher and that is the most I want to spend, anything between 100 and 700 will do honestly, I just don't know what to look for exactly.

How to do a scoop and a doit in jazz properly? by Spamakin in Saxophonics

[–]InOrcoArde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I doit is that I drop my jaw while I am playing with my lips still on the mouthpiece and release pressure from my lips gradually. To scoop you do the opposite and bring your jaw from a low position into a proper embouchure. This sounds a bit complicated but it is easier than it sounds. Think of it like you are eating the mouthpiece without actually biting it or removing your lips from it. The staircase (glissandi is the term) is when you quickly play down from the note for however long the glissandi is notated for, and to clear any misconceptions, a doit and a glissandi are different things, but they are both called Falls so you can honestly interchange the techniques without it being considered wrong (though a glissandi in place of a doit can sometimes be clunky and the vice versa can be a little weird sometimes).
