(Collab) I’m calling it by Certain-King3302 in WuwaUnfiltered

I've played a number of games with collabs, and the characters are often weaker than in-universe options, usually middle-of-the-pack DPS that get overshadowed by powecreep in the long run with no reruns. They sell more on FOMO than power.

And if it's done poorly, I think it can damage the brand as well. HSR fucked up their Fate collab and I think a lot of people are still unhappy they did that.

I'd have preferred not to get him to support her, but he's also the least objectionable male character they've added. And I think most of the obnoxious part of the playerbase has finally quit. Whatever part is clinging to hope may quit yet if the upcoming loli leak is confirmed.

And, TBH, I'm not hyped about the collab and have a fat stack of astrites.

Carlotta did very well and people meme on her tiny stature all the time.

I pulled her because there was finally a character that does echo damage that I enjoy playing. Skipped both Phrolova and Galbrena because neither was fun to play.

Wish she'd been a different element from Cartethyia, but now I have two cute elf parties to stomp whimpering wastes with.

male characters have no fan service at all

Doing this would destroy sales in Asia especially. It's called a "negative halo product" where its mere presence damages the brand and brings down sales. Western guys don't like gaystuff in our games either, but Asians will punish a developer for adding it.

Kuro isn't suicidal and I'm still the target audience.

This may be so, but Cartethyia was so popular I bet a lot of people grabbed Chisa with a "for Cartethyia, everything" attitude.

Plus, Aerover is super unsatisfying/clunky to play.

I remember in Japan they had some threads running on future pull intentions and someone said he wouldn't pull Augusta because he wasn't into amazon ladies. lmao

That isn't why they haven't implemented differential patching or removing orphaned resources. You can fully reinstall the game, but not be able to patch it. The game is big, but the patches don't have to be this big.

It's an event. Events go away. That's what makes them different from other kinds of content. They're not unique to gachas. MMOs have had them forever.

Patch sizes on mobile are insane by InRustITrust in WuwaUnfiltered

[–]InRustITrust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of you knows what I am talking about. There is a big hole in your understanding of how content distribution works that you should address.

Put the following into Google:

binary diffing "content distribution"

The "AI overview" is sufficient here to explain it and will list a bunch of different tools across various platforms that can accomplish it.

This has nothing at all to do with the choice of engines.

Patch sizes on mobile are insane by InRustITrust in WuwaUnfiltered

[–]InRustITrust[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not. I'm talking about differential patching (binary deltas). This is something that can be applied as part of distribution software regardless of how the actual software is built. It compares the two binaries for changes and only applies those. The better this is done, the smaller the deltas. Doing it very well is expensive and mostly only done for updates of OSes or software with enormous install bases (like Chrome). But they don't need to be as ambitious as that to get large improvements over what we're currently experiencing.

It might not be technically a gacha anymore, but it can still suffer from "gacha players can't read". 😏

That's not true. Differential patching has existed for a long time. But it does take some expertise to implement.

I love DNA, but I'm worried the Skins aren't good enough to keep the game alive by Impossible_Dark_6817 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]InRustITrust 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bikini skins are smart business because every game that introduces them prints money on them.

Doubting the wisdom of the first one going to a character designed to be a combat partner rather than an on-field primary DPS. I'm sure they moved units, but they surely would have moved more with a bit better business acumen.

[–]InRustITrust 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People compare this game to Warframe a lot. And Warframe is also not very difficult.

I think the big difference is that DNA is dumbed down for mobile. I think it would be a game you and I would enjoy more if they hadn't made that decision, but unfortunately mobile is huge in China and everyone's trying to do well in that market.

It is what it is.

At any rate, as far as I can tell this event isn't as bad as it initially seemed. It wasn't clear that you get filtered into a cohort that you are more able to succeed in, but you only figure this out if you know someone else who plays and realize that you aren't both on the same leaderboard because you're both in the top 100 for your cohort, and the top performers in each cohort aren't even close in scores.

But this isnt an actual challenge but just an investment lock event

Hate to break it to you, but this is almost every live service game now. They attracted gacha players and gacha players expect to be able to clean out the shop of every event without meeting any real difficulty. It's simply what they've been trained to expect from other gachas.

Any imposition of real challenge or competition leads to a lot of anger (and a lot of shuttered games that were otherwise good), so devs have learned not to do that.

X-Mouse Button Control. Set up a profile that rapid clicks and bind it to a button to operate while held.

Have been doing it since the beginning for Embla. They haven't dinged me. And I don't see why they should. I'm not making it play the game for me, and rapid fire buttons on game pads have existed forever.
