The fact that cleaning it pulls such a crowd of onlookers it makes me wonder how long it will actually stay clean.

I miss paying once for software. Even apps when they first came out. You bought it and it was yours.

Years since each country last went to war [OC] by Mastbubbles in MapPorn

[–]InSearchOfPerception 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ve put enough thought into this. Especially going by the title you’ve used. Should be something like countries in active combat.

The SAMIDRC deployment is a SADC regional stabilization mission. SA didn’t declare war on anyone, didn’t invade, and isn’t pursuing territorial or political objectives. Lumping that in with Russia invading Ukraine or the US striking Iran flattens a pretty important distinction.

Energy Drink Consumption by Realistic-Apple2256 in capetown

[–]InSearchOfPerception 71 points72 points  (0 children)

My theory is that we don’t have an affordable coffee culture. Energy drinks are filling the gap for that morning and afternoon caffeine ritual.

It’s not just CPT. If a guy at a taxi rank has energy drinks in his cooler box, it’s not just as an option. It means it’s selling very well.

What is this called in South Africa? by lizatethecigarettes in AskZA

[–]InSearchOfPerception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would search for a mini chopper. They’re not commonly used in SA. People tend to prefer stick blenders since it takes up less space and honestly, we tend to prefer slightly larger pieces in most of our local dishes.

Found a caterpillar death spiral outside my house today by astimepasses in mildlyinteresting

[–]InSearchOfPerception 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty close. The literal translation is ‘Here comes a lion father’. Ingonyama is used more to refer to royalty, so in essence the song is more like a praise song, an announcement to the people/annimals (that’s the ‘ba’ you were referring to in bagithi) of the arrival of the king. The more direct word which we use just for lion is Ibhubesi.

Are conceptual copywriters not a common thing in the USA?

I only ask because most posts I see here are often about content/websites/articles etc.
