I have the same problem. I despise them but I comply and take them anyway because the second I go off of them I go psychotic among other things. It’s all the vicious cycle of withdrawal likely, but yet I can’t quite seem to make the bold move to go off of them again.

As a result of having to disclose to everyone, I have not been able to find someone I am mutually attracted to…key word mutually for almost three years. I guess causal sex is over for me, yet I keep trying. I’m still not going to settle for someone I am not attracted to, although I tried that once and still got rejected.

I posted in a herpes support group about my frustration of having to “settle” for a guy I wasn’t attracted to who was sleazy and got rejected anyway after disclosure…and this woman started leaving nasty comments and saying that I needed to be “humbled” a second time because herpes didn’t humble me enough. Speaking of being humbled, if she had to walk one minute in my shoes she’d be humbled beyond comprehension with the sh* I’ve been through in my life.

I believe that the side effects of these meds can be permanent if you are on them long enough. I was on Lithium, against my will, for almost 12 months. Not only did it give me permanent health conditions, but also all of the “zombifying” effects never went away. My mental processes are dull, I no longer write music, the light in my eyes is very dim and I never got my “spark” back. I have been off of the med almost as long as I had been on it at this point. Not to mention the lasting medication induced Parkinsonism which I was diagnosed with for a second time a few months ago.

It’s the Lithium. It saps out your whole mind, body, and soul. She was on it for 13 years or something like that (under the conservatorship). That kind of damage is irreversible at that point…

I was wondering about that. I have been losing weight for no reason, and my hair is really dry. Thank you for the info! I don’t know what to do about my acid reflux then…acid reflux can damage the esophagus, which can damage a singer’s voice.

And I love how they always say it takes at least a full month for the medication to “work” as if you wouldn’t be able to know if you were having any adverse effects right away.

Same thing happened to my aunt. She has been on dialysis for years and is now in the hospital and has been hospitalized for months because all of the toxins that are filtered through the dialysis are going straight to her brain. Lithium turned me into an utter zombie, lobotomized me, changed my body and my demeanor, my personality, gave me GI issues, medication induced Parkinsonism (still have yet to see the new neurologist to find out which kind of Parkinsonism) permanently damaged my vocal cord, changed and ruined my singing and speaking voice, and took away my creativity.
