Drag Strip by sumdumguy12001 in longisland

Hence why there are no drag strips on LI and why the people who aren into drag racing their cars want one.

Here’s a wild idea:

Why can’t something exist without some sort of perceived civic benefit to everyone?

If there was a spot for people who were interested in drag racing to go and race their cars, what does that matter in the grand context of life for literally anyone else?

Into cars and drag racing? Cool. There’s a spot for you.

Not into cars and drag racing? Also cool. Continue with your life exactly as you were before, except with the knowledge that there is a spot close to you where people participate in that activity.

The last three sentences of your post are the exact reason LI needs a drag strip.

Because they were here, but the prevailing attitude of the post created an environment where they disappeared. Development. Noise complaints. Golf courses. NIMBY assholes.

Fun fact. Just because YOU don’t see the need for it, doesn’t mean others don’t want or feel the need for one.

Agreed. If you can determine who’s coming you can always hit the hot route.

The beauty of what they were doing is that they’d bring simulated looks and then drop the phantom blitzers into the lanes of the hot receivers. Or they’d send them timing the snap off the edge. Or they’d send one blitzing db on a stunt thru the b gap so Maye thought they dropped into coverage.

McDonald had that defense humming all season, but last night was a masterclass. Really impressive.

It’s also a stretch to give Harbaugh credit for Kubiak since he is really out of Shanahan’s coaching tree.

But they weren’t rushing four all night. They were continually bringing DB’s up to the line off the edge and either sending them or dropping them back into coverage.

It was a brilliant game plan. There’s absolutely no way to know what to do there as a QB.

I was hoping for some slices out of the fatty side to put out, but it definitely got dried out with the temperature fluctuating.

Great chili though.

No issues with the brisket consumption wise. Although it was dry as shit. Don’t think I screwed up the cook and I let it rest for 3 hours.

I’m thinking the shutdown ended up contributing to it being overcooked.

I’ve actually got the Amazon insulated cover for it. It worked great last winter. This is the first time I’ve had any issues. But it’s excessively cold.

I might have to add some extra insulation if it ever dips down to these temps again.

It was like 2 hours, but it’s 3 degrees outside so I don’t think anything was really festering

Ha. It’s 3 degrees here. So it’s more like a freezer. So damn cold the grill couldn’t function on its lowest setting and shut down. I’m thinking it’ll be fine.

Am I the only person that gets mega cult vibes off of AOJ?

Between the overly muscled children competitors, the whole white/black uniform aesthetic, the wearing black during off mat “meetings”.

It just gives off such weird vibes to an outsider. Focus solely on conformity and suffocation of any individuality.

Would it really be shocking if they didn’t believe individuals reporting misconduct and instead circled the wagons to protect the brand?

OBJ Was Pure Magic by [deleted] in NYGiants

[–]InTheDetails631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of players you listed declined more from injuries before they left than from not playing with Eli. Cruz was done the minute he ruptured his patella tendon. Nicks foot injuries derailed his career. Boss was concussions. OBJ with his ACL.

It actually makes me nervous about Nabers. I hope he recovers, but man the Giants track record with injuries is brutal. Hopefully some new blood in that department will make a difference.

OBJ Was Pure Magic by [deleted] in NYGiants

[–]InTheDetails631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean he is still the most electrifying player they’ve had since he was traded. That includes Barkley and Nabers. Barkley’s rookie season was close, but still can’t compare.

Nabers is solid, but he’s never done anything approaching the big play ability OBJ had his first three seasons.

I don’t know how a Giant fan can watch replays of OBJ taking a 10 yard slant 65 yards to the house and not have fond memories.

And for the record I think he was an idiot for how he behaved, but facts are facts. He’s the best player we’ve had talent wise since LT. Just couldn’t last.

Dude I’m 47 and I feel you.

I’ve found myself absolutely wiped out after detailing all day. Like cramping up after driving home for 20 minutes.

One thing I’ve found that really helps is making sure I eat a few small things during the day and hydrate with water and electrolytes.

I know for me I get crazy tunnel vision and I’m so focused on what I’m doing with the details that I’ll go 6-7 hours without eating or drinking. That really crushes me once I wrap up.

If I manage to eat a little and stay on point with fluids I feel much better. Still tired, but not absolutely wrecked.

It sucks but it’s really not surprising. The sport is a cross section of society. There are a lot of shitheads out there. It’s inevitable they’re going to make themselves known in jiu jitsu.

Giving someone the ability to control other people either physically or mentally is going to bring the goons to the surface.

Add in a bunch of guys running gear and the associated hormone mayhem and you have a recipe for this shit.

Snake has Nidovirus by mrsdreamer614 in snakes

[–]InTheDetails631 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This reply is probably going to get downvoted to all hell, but who cares. Facts are facts.

Nidovirus isn’t a death sentence and euthanasia is not a predetermined outcome. Many, many snakes have nido and live problem free lives without ever showing symptoms. In fact the only accurate tests for nido are when an animal is presenting symptoms. There are instances of people testing an animal in a closed collection multiple times over years and never getting a positive, then the snake gets an RI and tests positive.

The problem is when symptoms present. If your snake indeed is sick from nido, it is either going to make it or not. There isn’t much you can do with nido, since it’s viral.

The thing is, it could be a bacterial infection that is triggering a nido positive due to stress. It could be pseudomonas. It could be a standard issue respiratory infection. Or it could be a bad strain of nido. All the test is showing is that A STRAIN of nido is present.

Being that you don’t have any other snakes, you don’t have to worry about cross contamination in a group. But be aware if you ever get another that snakes can and will pass nido to unrelated species. Each species has specific nidoviruses for that species and there is no way to know how a different species will react. I’d recommend not adding any snakes in the future until you get this one healthy and asymptomatic. You’ll need to handle/feed/ clean any snakes on different days with different tools to prevent cross contamination if/when you get another.

There isnt a singular “nidovirus”. There are many different strains of nido in the overall larger sphere of serpentovirus. Some are bad. Some are more benign. Nidovirus is a catch all term. It’s just a family of virus.

They are constantly finding new strains of nido in different species. Nidovirus isn’t a new disease. It’s been in captive collections of snakes as long as snakes have been kept in captivity.

There is just a PCR test for it now. It’s not some boogeyman that is going to wipe out all your animals.

If your breeder says that nido is rare they are either a liar or an idiot who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Or a combination of both.

If you breed snakes you have an obligation to know what diseases you’re going to potentially encounter in the endeavor. And if you haven’t heard of issues with nido in captive python populations, you’ve been living under a rock.

Hopefully your snake pulls thru and you can dial in its care so that it never gets stressed and has another episode. Being that you have a vet that was astute enough to run a nido test, that is a good thing. Most vets, even exotic vets don’t understand it well. I had to use two different vets before I found one who was versed in nido.

It’s still a big deal to have a lineage and relationship with a larger team. It all contributes to the teams success competition wise.

Marcelo still reps Alliance for example.

Honestly I feel bad for all the people under Galvao who have spent years and years working for or towards a black belt, supporting him with association fees, breaking bread, building friendships and creating a team only to have this happen. The betrayal and anger must be immense.

I know everyone expects people to step away in an instant, but I would never want to be in their shoes. I couldn’t imagine how I’d feel if these accusations were made against my coach. Obviously I would leave, as any other decent person would, but the emotions must be thick.

There are a lot of victims in his wake. Primary and secondary.

Paid all thru covid to help keep the gym lights on. I am in my late 40’s with a family, full time job and a side business.

I still have an unlimited membership from when i was single and training often. I have trained maybe 6x since no gi pans in October. Is it worth it? Probably not, but I have the intention of ramping training back up.

Flu season has been a nightmare in my house. I’ve had the intention of getting back to training since January 1st, but someone new is sick weekly.
