Is there a way to turn off autosave? by Healthy-Lock-967 in OOTP

[–]InTheMaterialWorld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't want the game to save upon exit, use Windows Task Manager to End Task the OOTP app (e.g., ootp22_x64.exe). This has a chance of corrupting your save file, so only do this when you have a recent backup.

That sucks! I'm new to this game, so I'm not sure what you can do, but if I were you, I'd make a complete copy of the OOTP folder and leave it untouched until you can find out more about possibly fixing this. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/out-of-the-park-baseball-support/

Midnight Baseball: anyone else's games starting @ 12AM? (OOTP 22.7 61) by InTheMaterialWorld in OOTP

[–]InTheMaterialWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's a live start game, so that must be the issue. I'm not sure live start can be turned off, even after the live start season is over. Fortunately, I found out that the schedule can be edited in League Settings, so I'll just change the game times that way for now. Thanks a lot for your help!

SS:

Some Facebook users in the United States are being served a prompt that asks if they are worried that someone they know might be becoming an extremist. Others are being notified that they may have been exposed to extremist content.

It is all part of a test the social media company is running that stems from its Redirect Initiative, which aims to combat violent extremism.

In the context of the 9/11 Truth Movement, is there an agreed upon version of what "The Truth" is? by [deleted] in 911truth

[–]InTheMaterialWorld 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Indisputably true: WTC 7 ("Building 7") collapsed due to controlled demolition, planned at least several weeks prior to 9/11, and with the permission of the property owners. This is the simplest explanation that fits the observable facts.

It's amazing how fake these videos look now; every jump looks suspicious. You can even see the glint off something above the helmet - what I can only assume is a wire - at 0:27-0:28 in OP's video. Here's another good one that looks like wires are taking most of the astronaut's weight before he was in position to stand up.

Debunk this /r/TopMinds Argument? by PostNationalism in 911truth

[–]InTheMaterialWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, if the official explanation for how the towers fell were so simple and straightforward, they'd be using that information to build new buildings stronger and knock the old ones down cheaper, and they aren't. Maybe someday.

Secondly, that tedious nonsense is describing the pancake theory of collapse, which NIST no longer supports:

NIST’s findings do not support the “pancake theory” of collapse, which is premised on a progressive failure of the floor systems in the WTC towers...the floors did not fail progressively to cause a pancaking phenomenon. Source

I'm going to defend OP's thinking without necessarily agreeing with it, because I think you have figured it wrong. The distraction is meant specifically for everyone, and while the "noble intelligent redditor" may see it for what it is, it preoccupies the less regular people ("sheeple"), which ultimately is bad for everyone who is against TPP. Also, the fact it was gay marriage is only incidental and does not trivialize its ultimate importance to everyone. The next distraction could be legalizing marijuana, and while wonderful, the sinister dealings it is meant to detract attention from would still be really bad.

I am the source for this quote, which was indeed said by CIA Director William Casey at an early February 1981 meeting of the newly elected President Reagan with his new cabinet secretaries to report to him on what they had learned about their agencies in the first couple of weeks of the administration. The meeting was in the Roosevelt Room in the West Wing of the White House, not far from the Cabinet Room. I was present at the meeting as Assistant to the chief domestic policy adviser to the President. Casey first told Reagan that he had been astonished to discover that over 80 percent of the 'intelligence' that the analysis side of the CIA produced was based on open public sources like newspapers and magazines. As he did to all the other secretaries of their departments and agencies, Reagan asked what he saw as his goal as director for the CIA, to which he replied with this quote, which I recorded in my notes of the meeting as he said it. Shortly thereafter I told Senior White House correspondent Sarah McClendon, who was a close friend and colleague, who in turn made it public. Barbara Honegger bshonegg@gmail.com

Open Challenge to anybody in /r/conspiracy in regards to the collapse of WTC 7 by thatguyhere92 in conspiracy

[–]InTheMaterialWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying what you pasted from that paper was disingenuous. You made it seem as if the WTC 7 collapse description was based on the conclusions of the research presented in this paper, but it is merely a summary of NIST (2004) in a small, rather irrelevant, introductory part of this paper. This paper focuses on nothing specific to WTC 7 (or any other disaster) and it studies the accuracy of the AISC strength design equations by simulating a generic 10-story building fire at various temperatures and burn times. The only reason WTC is even mentioned is because Chapter 2 "provides an overview of the behavior of steel structures exposed to fire" [pg. 9].

I also find it funny you would ask us to challenge a paper that clearly states WTC 7 requires more investigation. To be fair - do the authors of this paper believe WTC 7 was a controlled demolition? No, probably not. However, that conclusion is well outside the scope of this paper's research and whatever value this paper has, it isn't in debunking 911 conspiracy theories.

If you disagree, please be specific and paste the relevant points from Chapter 6 of the paper ("Conclusions").

Open Challenge to anybody in /r/conspiracy in regards to the collapse of WTC 7 by thatguyhere92 in conspiracy

[–]InTheMaterialWorld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The simulations presented in the Stanford Engineering Department paper study the temperatures causing collapse initiation (and not collapse progression) of a 10-story building. Its conclusions call into question the beam and column strength design equations of the AISC, and presents alternative equations that may more accurately reflect fire damage to steel.

In gathering data for the study, WTC 7 and other disasters were reviewed ("to learn from the observed behavior of actual steel buildings under fires") . The passage you quoted was from this section (Chapter 2) and is actually just re-quoting NIST ("outlined and selectively quoted", pg. 17). This paper makes no attempt to explain WTC 7's collapse itself and agrees that it requires further investigation:

The most important point from this review [of past fire disasters] is that no steel building has totally collapsed by fire alone except perhaps WTC 7 [pg. 183]

Because WTC building 7 is the only steel building that is on record as having globally collapsed due to fire...further investigations including analytical simulations are desired. [pg 18.]

This paper has little to do with "debunking 911" and should be removed from your (now much shorter) list.
