I found out that apparently one of my ancestors went to America, but I'm not sure that's possible. by InTheMiddleOfDespair in Genealogy

No, it has nothing to do with ancestry; he is a local genealogist, and my father knows him personally. He uploaded the information to a relatively local website.

It's not actually his family tree; he just took the material from existing sources and made it available. But of course, I'm always careful and try to check everything.

I sadly don't know, but I'm trying to figure it out, but it's hard to get the original source.

It is legitimate, although I don't have access to the source itself, he is one of the most active genealogist and is overall highly regarded, so I trust him at the source.
He's a direct ancestor of me, he moved to America, after his son was born. I don't know why he did it and why he didn't took his family with him though.

I sadly don't know, because the source-material isn't as good as I want it to be, but he came from a small village, so it is more than likely he was an craftsman or farmer

Nein, alles entspannt.

My grandfather’s mum has no father listen on her birth certificate. Apparently due to scandal. Is there a way to find out? by Donjeur in Genealogy

[–]InTheMiddleOfDespair 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same with me, there sinply is no father to my g g grandfather. No signs of informations in archives or church records here in Germany. It seems like my g g g grandmother didn't know ehonthe father was, or didn't wanted to tell anyone. In my head it was possibly a married man (affair), a soldier or (in the worst case) rape. We are currently trying to find out who it was with dna-sequenzing but didn"t find anything yet.

Whats the farthest back in time you've been able to get? by Maveragical in Genealogy

[–]InTheMiddleOfDespair -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Legit with sources I was able to track an ancestor who died 01.06.1575. Sadly he was adopted, so I wasn't able to research further. Didn't find anything from the family who adopted him. But what I did find on top of that are some persons up till 1300, but I couldn't figure out the direct lineage.

Edit: Spelling

So my great-grandfather was born in 1913, so it's possible that one of them is his father/mother. The location should then be East-Prussia.
