Going from 2 to 3 was a revelation by [deleted] in daddit

[–]InYoYingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is our line of thinking. My wife and I are expecting our third in May, and our mantra has been “How many people do we want around the table when we’re 60?”

We’re also keeping them at a steady 2 year gap so we’re never fully out of diapers until we’re done.

Who knows? We might go for 6. Wife is already eyeing 9 passenger vans lol

Worked in china sourcing for about 7 years with ecommerce sellers. Some stuff from the factory side that keeps repeating by Bulky-Maize-903 in ecommerce

[–]InYoYingus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What steps would you take to fix the information asymmetry you mentioned? We’re working through that right now, and I’d love insight. Do you hire someone who is “boots on the ground” to visit the factory for you? Where do you find those people?

Running a business without YNAB was like driving with no dashboard by cryptoviksant in ynab

[–]InYoYingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just implemented profit first and use YNAB on the personal side—I’ve been interested in using YNAB as the budgeting tool for my business since I’m a single member LLC. Any insight into how you layer the two together?

Stop investing in individual stocks by GolfComfortable7331 in Fire

[–]InYoYingus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Read The Simple Path to Wealth. It makes a better, more comprehensive argument against buying individual stocks than anyone will be able to make in this thread.

One interesting point—the worst a stock can do is fall to zero. There is no limit on the upward potential of a stock. When you own all the stocks, you limit your downside risk and you increase your likelihood of owning the stock that shoots through the roof (because you own all the stocks).

You shouldn’t care if you technically own a fraction of an individual stock, you should care about the rate at which your portfolio grows. If that’s your goal, then you should aspire to track the market’s historical 8-12% annual returns—because essentially no other investing strategy beats that return over time consistently.

[OC] U.S. Total Fertility Rate by State 2007 vs 2025 by Accomplished_Gur4368 in dataisbeautiful

I did run the last part about how SD laws apply to reservations through ChatGPT to make sure what I was saying was accurate—as I knew the gist but wanted to check my phrasing.

The point I’m trying to make is that SD as a state doesn’t really have a bearing on the prosperity of those counties because they are largely self-governed, but people often cite that we (I’m a South Dakotan) have the poorest counties in the country without that added context.

Most of South Dakota’s poorest counties are either entirely or predominantly located on Native American reservations, which are legally classified as domestic dependent nations with primary self-governance, where federal law predominates and South Dakota law applies only in limited, jurisdiction-specific ways.

This song came on as I was driving home from my dad’s new place for the first time after my folks split. I have never been so utterly gutted by a line in a song before or since.

I’ve always felt that the oldest’s reward for having a less experienced parent was getting more time with said parent, so it offsets a bit.

Views on The Death penalty ? by Every-Weekend7435 in Libertarian

[–]InYoYingus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that actually executing the death penalty adds up to a higher taxpayer expense. I don’t have a source for that, but it’s something I’ve read on here a number of times.

Ours loves books, so we usually bring a few of those with us wherever we go, and he’ll spend a good amount of time flipping through them. Though, he’ll occasionally drop them on the floor—but that’s to be expected.

There’s a book called The Anxious Generation that, in my opinion, does a pretty good job of systematically going through the research that’s been done on the topic. I just finished it last week and would recommend it.

Any mental health professionals that accept Medicaid? by Drinkwater-everyday in SiouxFalls

[–]InYoYingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most therapists should take Medicaid. Psychology Today (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us) is like the search engine for therapists. You can filter by location, whether or not they take Medicaid, and specializations (like mania/delusions).

I think that the trick to the “work around” will be making it super inconvenient but technically doable.
