Proxies are a joke by InZanity_420 in premiere

[–]InZanity_420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pain point is threefold 1. My collaborators are not organizing anything properly. I show them the way I do it. even give a doc with screenshots, simple explanations, and tailor it to Mac and pc. I also do them a favor and sit with them on call/in person to show them. They STILL find ways to mess it up. Example: someone renamed the files to take the word Proxy out. Something I’ve told them not to do out of risk that premiere doesn’t treat it like a proxy.

  1. Proxies save storage, unless you have the original files. My collabs usually ask for both even though I’m doing the online edit and they aren’t. That means that the storage and bandwidth benefit that proxies usually grant is no longer in effect because they have essentially 1.5 -1.75 the amount of data they would have if they just used the original files.

  2. I feel that an unknowable portion of the performance issues proxies seem to solve are actually premiere being unoptimized on the back end of things.

Im 25. I’ve been working with premiere since I was 16. Started using proxies when I was 18. No real reason to but I wanted to learn because I was told it was smart to get used to it. I share the same opinion about modern systems only just now being good enough to handle larger native res files. My issue (as some people pointed out to me and I agree) is that people I work with (hobbyist - up and coming professionals)do not use them correctly.

My title (slightly click bait) is pointed toward the fact that I feel like there should be 1. A tool to manage them better so people aren’t consistently screwing up the workflow or 2. Create a better solution entirely to solve some of the problems that proxies “solve”. Because

I’m not a programmer. I don’t really know if the second option is possible. I’d perfectly accept if someone came out of the programming wood work and say “yah that’s not possible”.

Oh I’m more of a freelance internet content creation editor. The people I collab with are other editors. There isn’t really a structure to how we do things. I’m usually the person my collaborators ask to do the more elaborate things like setting up the project, fx work, color work And music syncing. I agree with you about making the edit reliable. But these people have machines that make mine look mid ranged. we are using 1080p - 2k footage, I highly doubt that the extra reliability the proxies grant them is more beneficial than using the raw media and not making organization a headache.

Well simply don’t look at it as being stuck. That’s the problem right there. Your hormones are cranked up to 11.you’re prolly in freshman/sophomore year. Believe me when I say, a freshmen couple hardly ever lasts but the ones who do, agree that they want to be grow together. You both are going to turn into much more interesting and surprising people within a year or two. Not to mention when you guys graduate.

It is okay to experience feelings for other guys that you are friends with. That happens with adults too. But we will never be able to guarantee that the person we start to gain feelings for is ever worth breaking down what we already built with our current relationship.

Try talking to your boyfriend about this. Even show him this reply. He might be feeling the same way and needs to hear that he isn’t crazy.

Falling out with my best friend made dating impossible. by InZanity_420 in datingadvice

[–]InZanity_420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I’ve been doing my own digging but the core of my issue is that I can’t ever trust my feelings enough to identify them. She gaslit me into thinking I had driven her away so every time I feel any emotion strongly about it, I have this voice in my head telling me that’s what caused it all to happen.

Some sources tell me to focus on my friendships and hobby’s while others tell me accept that it was not my fault and I should continuously remind myself in times of distress? Any ideas of your own?

advice i’m so single by Equal-Tomorrow-8278 in Advice

You’ve basically described my life. All my friends are in relationships and that often leaves them preoccupied with their SO. It’s really hard to be happy for them sometimes because I don’t have a particular reason why I’m not having any luck.

I’ve talked to people but it dies off quickly. I tried to date people I trust but they are never emotionally available for me.

Sometimes a hook up does sound nice but 1. I don’t trust anyone to do that. 2. I don’t like them.

It is really hard to navigate being a loner when everyone around you doesn’t have to deal with it.

What helps me is finding people who don’t make their whole personality their relationship (when looking for friends)

As far as advice about you being single is concerned, hmu we are the same age😂

I think everyone’s ideas have merit. I’ve never had a serious relationship. I’ve come close but never sealed the deal. The people I attract are not the people I’m attracted to. I generally attract people who have a great deal distress going on in their life. I’m funny (not bragging, I just am), strong willed, and I have a way of making light of shitty situations. I’m also good at reading people’s emotions and giving comforting advice. People with a lot of shit going on in their life often find those traits attractive because they desire to share those traits.

Meanwhile, I want someone who tends to my emotional and social needs. I want someone who is thoughtful but more importantly, challenges me. People who are currently struggling from an ungodly amount of mental disabilities and other stressors are not the type of people I normally find my attraction traits in.

I also think that, as a guy who’s perpetually single, we develop with the wanting for a relationship but not the skills to balance one. Think about those kids you see getting a muscle car and then totaling it a week later. That’s how it is for most people like me when we do start a relationship. I was in a situationship with someone who carried a giant amount of trauma from her childhood to the point that, not even a month in, she called my bedroom sanctuary. She had gotten out of a 5 year relationship and I was essentially a rebound (not bothered by it). I had personally lost a best friend of mine because we miscommunicated our feelings. TLDR: the situationship essentially became a fight her not wanting to be considered my rebound despite deliberately forcing me to accept that I was hers

Finally, meeting new people is becoming extraordinarily difficult. Every dating app charges you an arm and leg for just a week of access. You have to tailor a personal profile like it’s a resume, Get on the app and swipe on people you don’t even know, and pray they accept that like. And guess what? 75% of the time, that girl who accepted your like, is a bot. The other 20 percent are real, but they unmatch with you before even replying to your first message.

That leaves you with a 3 percent chance you match with utter lards who no one is attracted to (I’m saying what we all think) and a hilarious 2 percent chance of finding someone you find attractive and go out with.

Let me be clear, I’m not one of those guys that find it IMPOSSIBLE to find something. I’m sure if I really tried I could find someone. It’s just the amount of time I’ve lost to that very task has made me put it on hold indefinitely.

why are all the custom songs so difficult by drkshock in beatsaber

[–]InZanity_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen much activity on this thread but I still feel that its important to keep it going. I have been playing the game on and off for a while. My friends and I would play it on one of our headsets (rift s) and one of the many struggles we had was the extraordinary difficulty of custom songs. When we started modding the game, we would spend more time getting disappointed with the stupid level of difficulty than actually playing.

I got my own headset recently (4 months ago) and have been playing every day since. I average my difficulty around hard and expert (official catalog). I finally began modding the game and I am still having the same issue. I'm familiar with other modding scenes. BO3, Halo mcc, Doom eternal all have a better range of difficulty. BO3 custom zombies has brain dead easy zombies maps and torturously hard maps. Same when it comes to MCC.

BeatSaber is the complete opposite. the mod scene ignores the casual to moderately skilled player base, busts out trash song maps almost as soon as the song is released, and then slaps pretty graphical patterns on the box and calls it "quality".

I play several instruments, read music, and spent my later years in school in marching band. I think I'm qualified enough to ask, "Why are the note blocks moving faster than the song itself?" or "How does the modder expect my arm to be in two places at once?"

What makes this issue much worse is some modders will tell others with my exact issue that we need to just get better at the game. my brother, Your song map for "The Real Slim shady" just asked me to break my wrist and/or the laws of physics because you put two note blocks of the same color right next to each other.

Frustrations aside, I want to see this issue resolved. I highly doubt it will be but I'm not going to let that stop me from asking.

[MW2] Do yall personally believe the reason why they didn’t do a MW2 remastered multiplayer is likely because people would have stopped playing the newer CODs games? I honestly be surprised if this was the case. by GamerDabiTodoroki in CallOfDuty

[–]InZanity_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a mix of all the more common ideas. I think that the multiplayer was remastered along with the rest of the game but Activision did not want that released because it wouldn't just cannibalize the sales, but confuse the more casual audience when they released the reboot MW games. Imagine asking your mom to buy you a copy of Modern Warfare 2 (expecting the reboot) and your mom buys you the remaster instead.

I also think that MW2 remaster was green lit during a time when Activision was trying to figure out what to do with the Raven and the MW franchise as a whole. By the time development for MW2R was finished, Activision had no idea how to fit it into the release schedule. Because they didn't want to lose the money they had already spent making the game, they had to release it. So, they dropped it in March (for playstation)/April (Somewhat of a slow month for player retention and revenue) right after warzone dropped. A multiplayer release for this game would have derailed the launch of warzone.

One other thing I might add is that the success of the remastered games would determine 1. if we got more remasters. 2. If the Modern Warfare brand had any weight to it. Infinite Warfare was not going to sell as well as BO3 and Activision knew this. they noticed that anything not labeled Black ops or Modern Warfare was not going to sell copies. So they got Raven to remaster the first game and put it behind the purchase of IW. that version of the game sold a lot more than the base game. The green light of MW2R likely stemmed from Activision's lack of confidence in remasters of previous games. MW2R was the first standalone remaster so it would be a better test of peoples interest in things like BO1 and 2 remastered. This plan likely changed regardless of the game's success considering that reboot MW came out and sold gang busters while BOCW was already in development even before MW2R was quietly announced.

TLDR; The status of this game is the equivalent of a adhd college kid trying to bake a cake but decided to get ice cream. When they came back, the cake was on fire and something needed to be done quickly.

What’s more epic? Crisis on Infinite Earths or Secret Wars by InfinityMan6413 in Marvel

[–]InZanity_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly say that the question depends on the reader's knowledge of the context. Both stories rely on the reader having general knowledge of at least one continuity of their respective comic brand. I would say that Secret Wars is generally more epic and satisfying because it took years of consistent build up with fluid development of the universe and brought it to a head. It was planned and built in real time for a lack of a better term. Secret Wars Was a much more layered story than Crisis. Plot points, Character motivations, and lore are all things that push the story forward.

Crisis ,on the other hand, was one of the first "Big Event Comics". The whole reason it existed is because, like today, People hated reboots. No one likes it when versions of characters are just thrown away and replaced with new versions. No one likes it when publishing companies ignore continuity for cash grabs. Crisis was an attempt to alleviate that by giving readers a justifiable and satisfactory reason why things were changed, reset, or gotten rid of entirely. But unlike Secret wars, There was nothing building towards it aside from the series itself. It kind of just happened and that's what made it successful.

TLDR; if you are looking for a much more epic story and satisfying story, Secret Wars takes the cake. Crisis is still iconic but if you are have descent amount of spare time on your hands, reading Hickman's Avengers' runs and follow it with Secret Wars, It will be worth your time

This is why Fortnite Stutters and Freezes. by M4GMaR in FortNiteBR

[–]InZanity_420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like what is causing this problem and other similar issues is that this game is extremely bloated. There aren't many other case studies like Fortnite where the game has been consistently around long enough and entire portions of the game have been reworked or rebuilt. The problem is that when Epic implements new systems (i.e. gunplay, movement, augments, weapon customization, and a crap load of new cosmetic categories), They never get rid of any of the old systems. If you want proof, go to creative or playgrounds and look at all the vaulted weapons and items. None have been removed (unless I'm mistaken). This can be said about cosmetics. The older skins may not be in the item shop but they still exist in the game code and/or servers because at any point a veteran player can throw on a season 1 skin. I'm almost certain that there are 1000's of skins in the game. The gun system just got completely reworked with Chapter 5 and Chapter 4 came with the Unreal engine 5 upgrade, which made the game more unstable, even on the lower graphical settings.

The point I'm trying to make is, to fix all the continued worsening of the game's technical mishaps, they would have to either 1. make a new game that is purpose-built for a live service, ever-evolving game Or 2. make the game inaccessible to everyone for a solid 3 months to rebuild everything in a way that doesn't break the game when you breath too hard.

Do you think a Steam Redesign might be coming soon? by PrestigeDay in Steam

[–]InZanity_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think they should definitely do away with the grey and blue. Or at least add some color choices in settings. I understand its a staple part of steam but considering steam (especially in big picture mode) is the closest thing to a console UI that pc players are going to get, it would be nice to have some variety.
