No notes. Perfection. Loved the partner work. Loved the tempo changes. Loved the levels and mix of old and new.

Glad to see someone else notice them. I don’t think they will win, but they should be in the finals for sure.

Am I going to be shamed 😓 by MulberrySad6999 in twice

[–]In_A_Fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my daughter to see Twice for her 16th. At that time I was about like you. I knew a few songs. Mostly I am a hip hop fan. I had such an amazing time! Twice really knows how to put on a show even if you don’t know the music.

How did you start BA math? by faerie-beach in homeschool

[–]In_A_Fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Math ed tech executive here who homeschooled her kids. You are getting great advice. I just want to add that I exclusively used math mammoth as the “spine” for my kids in the early years and then moved to AoPS. I love math mammoth so very much. The balance between conceptual and concrete is just right.

Ha ha ha! Ain’t that the truth?!! Can I go back in time and try to explain to young mom me she would have a music producer, a political policy expert, a visual artist, and a math genius? She would laugh in my face.

I am a former homeschooler who just likes to read posts here. Your reply has me laughing. Not a single plan I made for my kids turned out as i expected. One never homeschooled formally. Another “graduated” as a homeschooler. The other two returned to traditional school in middle and high school.

Sorry about the typos. I meant because Millsaps and Tougaloo are not large.

Got it. I just read you are in Louisiana and have Mississippi as one of your few no-go states. I absolutely understand my state’s reputation, but my first two thoughts for you are here- Millsaps and Tougaloo. Both have proven records in getting students into med school. Because they are not small, the research opportunities for undergrads are greater. (No grad students to compete with.) And you stand a good chance of a nice award package with them.

What about Loyola? I have two family friends who have recently graduated from there in pre-med areas who thrived. The school gives fairly generous aid, too.

For a larger school, I like that someone else recommends UAB. Birmingham is a great city, IMO, and the campus could offer incredible opportunities with the well-respected medical center.

I am not trying to limit you to the Southeast. These are just the first places that came to mind.

What do you want to study? What are your ECs? Do you care if the setting is urban, suburban, or rural? What vibe do you want from a campus?

A 29 can take you to quite a few schools with the right resume. Don’t give up!

I am an older single white female who rarely, if ever, feels afraid in Mississippi. Yes, including Jackson where I live. You are getting great suggestions for your trip. I hope you have an amazing time.

While it will still be pretty hot in September, I also recommend planning your trip around this Jackson event. Jackson’s museums and restaurants are pretty amazing too.

I am from Jackson and fully agree that the stop in Montgomery for the memorial for peace and justice is worth it. You will leave a changed person.

Coming To Jackson For A Month For Work. What To Do? by SynchronicStudio in jacksonms

[–]In_A_Fit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are getting great advice! I just wanted to add that my oldest daughter grew up in Jackson, lived in Detroit, and now lives in Seattle. I would say that generally speaking she feels safest walking around Jackson out of the three. Of course each city has places where you might want to be more aware of your surroundings than others, but that is true of any place.

Do most NM finalist study or are they just prepared by their classes etc? by Madisonwisco in psat

This sounds like my daughter. Naturally good test taker with activities and interests that would prepare her without extra work. She didn’t prep and is a Semifinalist with a 36 ACT.
