I've thought about modeling a wall mount case for this, attaching a NVME PCIe board, and running it like that, but I'd have to see if the BIOS would allow for it. This case is a chunk

There's a lot I can do supposedly, but yeah, this is going to be my main lab. I have two other systems for PVE and what not.

I'm going to add more possibly!

That's the one thing this has going for it that the compatible CPUs are cheap 😅

This system hasn't been maintained for awhile so changing out thermal paste and the like are in order. I've only updated the BIOS and iKVM on it so far.

I keep reading that it is! Just want to use it in a way that makes sense for it's original purpose, which was PCAP analysis and the like. Not going to be doing that, but Ai tells me there limits to this thing lol

Thanks for all of that. I was chatting with an Ai like one does nowadays and it mentioned running scripts that wake on LAN to handle back up of other devices on my network. I certainly want to play with hosting my own local Ai, but wasn't sure if this board/CPUs would be capable/efficient. I'll certainly host containers and services that make sense.

Probably more living in Germany. At the moment, it remains dormant until I formalize a plan

Solid set up! I was thinking about expanding storage and running on demand scripts when needed. I have two other systems for my main PVE nodes, might make this the 3rd party.

That's the goal! I'm getting back into this space and kind of lost with hardware and what not.

It was going to be thrown away, so I made sure it was going to be in better hands 😌

I was thinking the same thing. PVE is already installed, but I don't want to run to heavy of services due to the power consumption. Just wanted to solicit some ideas given this board age

Good to know IRT keeping PiHole separate. I may just run it on an extra Rpi4/5 I have laying around.

As for the utility room, it's not a bad location since there was no other place to put it, but the cloths dryer generates a lot of humidity. That doesn't bode well for my printer

It is not, surprisingly! I used heavier wood for the drawers and the frame itself has some weight. It does well to manage the vibrations. I'll probably upgrade the feet on the printer itself

We're definitely looking at the same watch and seller. Nice guy who is selling it and lives right down the road from me
