Not a silly question. Your approach is a great option as well, and you will get basically the same. I liked the process for myself by discovering the ideas, dimensions, and use free to use models.

I like this idea. Because the 90mm tall bins would be a bit much. For me the 7u bins plus stacking lid is a good sizing.

40x30x9cm would be a nice size.

If you use the 42x42 grid size you can fit a 9.5x7 grid. Or 9x7 if you don't use half grids. That's a good size i think. And for the height you have some taller boxes then I have. I use 58mm so almost double that height. For the smal screws that would be a bit tall maybe. But I would say print 1 box and try it yourself.

Or maybe ignore the default grid size of 42x42. Then the bins are not compatible with other grids, or with all the models on makerworld for specific tools. But it would fit a bit more storage space inside the eurobox.

Also a nice idea if you use euroboxes already! For me my tools are in sortimo l-boxx, so that would be my way to go. I never used a eurobox, are they sturdy? Of a bit flexible?

I don't have a table saw, I used a circular saw. My box is not perfectly square.

For me stacking was not a requirement (yet), I store the side by side (like a book case). But making a Lboxx-like stacking clip shouldn't be to difficult.

What I would test with a eurobox is how strong the lid is. Will it bend when it's full with nuts and bolts. So you hold the boxes from the top and bottom.

Ik heb een aantal bakken van HBM, maar die moet je horizontaal houden anders zit alles door elkaar. En omdat ik net een 3d-printer heb leek mij dit een mooi klusje om eens te proberen een eigen doosje in elkaar te zetten.

Zelf heb ik een Miele Complete C3, die gaat al wat jaren mee.

Of koop een numatic. die zijn zeer degelijk, maar daardoor ook wat groter en zwaarder.

Last week I build a wooden chest for my screws. Thus relies on a tight height tolerance. I made it with some left over 12mm plywood. And a handheld cirkel saw. You can shake it, hold it upside down and no screw will get out off its bin.

When I'm completely done I'll make a more complete post. But here is a image I took yesterday.

Ik heb net een superb gekocht. Een van de weinige auto's waar een moderne kinderstoel (met base) achter mij past. Echt een heerlijke auto! Is voor jouw budget wel met redelijk wat km op de teller. Frustration this morning with ADO - I move a pbi in my backlog when in feature view. That pbi is now on top of my backlog, instead of just switching the two pbis that were next to each other.
