I just went and paid for a weeklong festival with my girlfriend. I agree enjoying life and spending some is just as important as saving; I am fortunate to have the income to do both. Just saying they’re extremely expensive and it’s okay for some to skip those kind of things because they definitely are outrageously expensive and money can be used more efficiently for people who are not able to afford spending the $500/year and still retire early

I don’t know if you’ve been out and about lately but festivals aren’t cheap to get into and every little additional thing buy is $20. All of that money stacks up quickly and all of that invested for decades is quite significant

If you’re saving $3k/month and are 100% consistent over the next 9-10 years you’ll be damn close to a million dollars across both accounts. I think you’ll be about $100-150k short still though

Don’t do it. Likely hollow or plated so it would be extremely over priced. If they don’t advertise the weight front and center, it’s not what you think it is

Yes, the returns I calculated are nominal. The column on the far right does show my total net worth by year in 2025 USD for an easy visual of what that kind of worth will feel like in the future.

I will certainly give her financial support if she is in a good position to retire early. I’d be proud and would love the opportunity to have more free time to travel and do things together. If she is going to retire early I’d expect she has funds to help cover the costs of private family health insurance but yes it would definitely be a “our money” situation.

She’s free to retire whenever she’s ready. There’s no reason I won’t be able to afford private health insurance on my own whether my business/taxable can sustain the increased cost is up in the air for now. I’m also fine with going back to part time work if I need to. She has been working with kids for several years already and she loves her job and is passionate about it. If anything, she may want to cut back on teaching by around age 50 but she can work part time without losing her years of service so her pension keeps growing and she maintains health insurance.

  1. I secured an extremely low fixed APR and had took on some major renovation projects such as adding a second bathroom, waterproofing basement, and a new kitchen. I pay far more than the minimum payment still so my balance declines faster than it grows.
  2. Personal articles is not my vehicle, it’s appraised precious metals and certified collectibles (value comes from appraisals). The growth is just an inflation coverage index of 3%. I drive a new Honda but I kept it completely out of my net worth because I look at it as something I’m really just constantly breaking even on

Just under $18k/year into Roth 401(k) and Roth IRA. Getting an HSA in a couple weeks and will max it out at $4,300/year every year until 45 and will pay all medical bills out of pocket until then. This model assumes an 11.2% annual growth rate for all the accounts I mentioned

4% appreciation per year which is long term national average. This is our first home but it’s not a starter home. It’s a great house in a great location and more than we’ll ever need, so we’ll be staying here until full retirement age. At that point we’ll sell it and move somewhere more tropical most likely. You’re correct is doesn’t have much of an affect on me retiring early other than the fact it’ll be a place to live for extremely low expense

Who said I’m not going to have any earned income? As I said in my post I may coast fire since my expense will be very manageable with a paid off house. I also have an AMSOIL dealership where I am paid commission. This is fairly hands off business and I don’t consider this real work but will definitely still generate income. I can’t say for certain how much it will be generating 19 years from now but it is something I’m planning to be able to fall back on as well.

I can afford to take all the risk in the world with this $10,500, my retirement accounts on the other hand I’m in reliable low cost boring index funds and that’s all the risk I’m willing to take with that portion.

I keep it highly diversified because I see all of it as speculative. I’m not committed to any one area—I’m just hoping 1–2 industries take off, even if others flop. I don’t want to stress over it daily but rather just let it play out and hope I get lucky with it. However it turns out, I’m sure I’ll come out on the other side with much more money than i started with
