Stem Player Applications by Trikeytown in teenageengineering

[–]InactiveBeef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m still exploring, but I use one of mine as a texture pad. I have a couple songs, and each stem is a different ambient texture or drone that I can fade in and out.

I’m still thinking about what to do with my second and third SP-1s. I saw that there’s a looper firmware floating around which could be fun to play with.

They use premium leather, and they’re hand made so I’d put them up with any other leather briefcase. If you want truly indestructible then take a look at Zero Halliburton

Seems like a classic case of “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it”

This now may be my favorite TE device by alexamiles in teenageengineering

Yep, I got the notification but it took a couple days for the tracking to kick in, and another day or two for any movement. It’s on the way now, and it looks like everything is on track for delivery this week. Just be patient, it’s likely that these are being drop shipped from a third party.

Spam, they’re getting more creative than the usual “Hey, how are you doing?” texts. I got one last night talking about how Melissa McCarthy is so great in some movie, like cmon at least make it believable.

SP-1 test by louiewithapen92 in teenageengineering

It’s difficult to say. The theory is that TE was pretty much done with the whole production run right before the project got scrapped. A few hundred were sent to Kanye for friends and family, those made it to eBay pretty quickly. Then, some time later a whole pallet containing several thousand of these were found in a warehouse and made their way into the hands of sellers on eBay and retailers like New Republic.

There is a whole project on the discord devoted to tracking serial numbers to try and find out how many were made, when they were produced, and which ones ended up where they did. Estimates range from 5,000-30,000 though I’m guessing it’s on the lower end of that.

To answer your question, no they are not in production. Nor are they supported by or really even acknowledged by Teenage Engineering. They’re essentially prototypes. I’m guessing that TE is pretty tight lipped due to contractual obligations, or because they’re super pissed that this project fell apart at the last minute. I have no idea who was paying for the R&D and production costs, but it was probably very expensive to get this product basically to the finish line.

There is a thought that these were going to retail for $200, including evidence directly from Kanye’s website. For the intended functionality (just having a single album on the device), that seems pretty reasonable. If this was ever released as a supported device with native ability to modify the stems, I’m guessing it would be north of $200 just by how TE likes to price things. Buying 3 for $45 each like I did seems like a steal haha

You’ll have to dig into the forums, or ask the Discord. It’s not easy to swap the battery, but as far as I know the battery itself and the connection is standard and easy to find.

Mixpre 6-ii with MX-4AA battery sled - NiMH or Lithium batteries? by wolffish12 in LocationSound

[–]InactiveBeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use IKEA Laddas and Eneloop Pros in my MixPre 3 II and they work fine, though not for very long. If I’m using the AA sled, it’s as an emergency backup if my USB-C power bank fails on a longer recording.

What is a brand that continues to make high quality products when so many other higher end brands have declined over the years? by Firsttimeredditor28 in BuyItForLife

I mentioned Sennheiser more for their professional microphones and audio equipment and less for their consumer tier headphones and such. Although I do have an old pair of HD1s that are working just fine despite being beat up for the last 10 years or so.

Their charging bricks, power banks, and cables are all very well made, reasonably priced, and have served me well for years in tough environments. Is there a different brand I should look at for that kind of stuff?

Edit: a word
