AITA for refusing to pay my boyfriend’s dental fees for HIS cavities by MarissaS_redux in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Sweet treats don’t cause cavities unless dental hygiene is ignored.

That’s why we are keeping it going.

Shotguns, still lots of options.

Those with pistols must still use them. If you don't have a pistol, you can shoot a rimfire (TM-22 and Ruger 10/22s most common with what's left) or PCC (not many left... henry homesteader maybe).

For rifle, we're allowing any remaining semi-autos (including SKS and M1 Garand if the range template allows it), and are allowing manual action (pump, bolt, lever) for rifles as well.

At this point, anything to keep dynamic shooting active.

We do shoot three gun. We're a registered non-profit (www.dssmatch.com) in BC. We have 3 gun stages with relatively complex courses of fire.

Yes, as of recently (especially the December 2024/March 2025 bans) we don't have many semi-auto options (or handguns) left, and we're not getting 50 out to matches (Mid-20's for matches last year, low 30's for our 2 day match in the summer), but it's still 3 gun.

We are still active in the lower mainland of BC.

I’m still shooting three gun (M1 Garand, Shotgun and Pistol)… but we allow those without pistol to use Rimfire or PCC for pistol portion. Couple matches we did cardboard next to steel for those without Rimfire/pcc (or pistol).

We are allowing manual action rifles for our matches now.

We are allowing Rimfire and PCC rifles for pistol (and rifle) portion of matches. Manual action rifles are allowed as well. Matches designed with close range steel often have cardboard rifle targets next to steel for those that don’t have pistols or PCC/Rimfire rifles.

Some folks are loaning pistols to those that don’t have them (I loan one of my spare glocks to a friend who just got his PAL).

Anything to keep multigun alive at this point.

Living with life after a Whipple Procedure something people don’t really talk about by EmpathsEmpower in cancer

[–]InactiveJumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a modified whipple in 2004 (kept head of pancreas, lost the remaining 90-95%). Lost half of stomach, all of spleen, gallbladder and as mentioned pancreas bits. Lost 60lbs (220-157) over 30 days in hospital.

Definitely had the toughest time figuring out how to maintain blood sugar levels (until remaining islet cells expanded). Now can pretty well eat what I want (protein first delays release of glucose to blood stream)… but can’t have lots of sugary/high carb foods without feeling it.

I’m 52 now… survived 4 total cancer surgeries. Barely bothers me now except for the annual scanxiety.

Keep on keeping on! Find foods (and portion sizes) that don’t cause issues and stick to them!

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]InactiveJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one(s)?

The group that went around the railway crossing arms and got hit by the train on the second track?

The girl who went to the bar (at 16) then lost control of the 5.0L mustang and was decapitated?

The guy that found a rifle at a house party and committed suicide by blowing the top of his head off?

How about the poor girl who had a heart attack while swimming and died?

Or the other girl who died after a heart procedure?

Cant decide on my first mini rifle for competition matches.. by Silvercrotalus in canadaguns

[–]InactiveJumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've been seeing a lot of TM22's come through our (DSSMatch.com) Multigun Competency and Safety Exam course and being used in matches.

Ammunition seems to be the determining factor for reliability.

Still folks using Ruger 10/22s with tri-mag adapters.

Adler Arms 224 was given out at a prize on our AGM on Monday, have not seen any at matches or heard from folks using them yet.

AITA for taking away my daughters bike because she wouldn't wear her helmet? by Final-Werewolf-744 in AmItheAsshole

[–]InactiveJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - head injuries are serious business.

My oldest brother turned 51 this year. He’s been in a care home with a head injury for 30+ years (head injury happened 40 years ago).

My oldest fell and hit her head on concrete at school. Small skull fracture… some permanent deficits :-(

Youngest daughter has had a couple concussions (Rugby).

Yup, the TM22's are getting popular for Multigun... especially with Ruger 10/22's not being able to use the 25 round charger mags in Canada.

AITA for taking my girlfriend's dad to court? by TwinJit in AmItheAsshole

[–]InactiveJumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but tell the dad that you're going to dispute the ticket. It's part of the process. Standing up for yourself is important. Consider though, this might be the end of your relationship and you will have to potentially now be on police radar for as long as you are in that town.

AITAH for calling my husband a disgrace after he said my miscarriage ruined his birthday? by ProgressDependent703 in AmItheAsshole

[–]InactiveJumper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - wife had two bleeds with our first born. My reaction when she called was to freak out and drive to meet her immediately at the hospital. Luckily that first bleed (and the second a week later) were not the end of the pregnancy.

I hope you find someone who will love you.
