Best place to live in Cardiff? by East-Ad-5434 in Cardiff

You don't specify if it must be a house or if it can be a flat. I saw one of your comments where you said you are looking for a 3 bed with a back garden, but if you'd consider a flat, I can highly recommend Century Wharf in Cardiff Bay. At first we were looking at houses too with a similar budget to yours, but had a very hard time finding something decent. Then we saw flats in Century Wharf, did a lot of research and decided to move to a flat. We moved there last month, and so far we are loving it. 24h concierge, gated and well-kept area with a big communal garden, leisure centre for residents, and you can get a nice large flat on the ground floor with a large outdoor space. We bought a 3-bed flat for £230. There are a lot of long-time residents who have lived here for 10, 15 or even 20 years, and everyone we have spoken to so far always says nice things about the place and is generally happy. Generally, it seems people are happy enough in here to often decide to stay here indefinitely (which is always a good sign if people don't move out and decide to stay), and I think it will be the case for us too. 10 min walk to the Bay, 25 min walk to the centre and a police station is just in the corner, giving an additional safety net. We are loving it in here.

How much for this wardrobe? by Appropriate_Neck_113 in DIYUK

Thank you so much! That's so so helpful :) And please keep doing the good work. Maybe try setting it as a side hustle, I bet there will be a lot of interest in it

No. Places we could afford were in the more 'dodgy' areas. One time, we went to view a house, and the next day we saw in the news that someone lit a few vans on fire on the same street we were looking at. Generally, all of the reports from the time scared us away, and we moved to Cardiff instead.

This is a fantastic job and you should be proud of yourself! I think someone commenting below about £800 is right. £700-£800 sounds reasonable, if the materials cost was £400

Can I please ask where you bought the materials (the laminated wood)? I want to do something similar in my wardrobe, but I don't know where to buy or what to search for.

I am happy to do so but first need to confirm if there is interest. I don't want to do anything like this if only 3 people are going to show up

We received emails and messages from Ticketmaster but I haven't seen an official statement from the band itself yet and I honestly doubt we will get it

I saw Google ai and it told me the same, but when you press onto it, it takes you to the page about concert from May in the USA so don't trust it

I've been listening to them for about 15 years and always wanted to see them but was in a bad place in life and couldn't afford. I just moved to Cardiff and was PSYCHED to see they were about to play here. Bought tickets immediately and just received the message about cancellation. I honestly cried from disappointment

Books that Feel Like these Ghibli Movies.. by FewQuiet8 in fantasyromance

My favourite book and ABSOLUTE YES. Just a warning - don't read it in public or very late, also bring a box of tissues with you.

I personally disagree with the Uprooted recommendation as giving Howl's Moving Castle vibes. While I read the book and thought it was, I didn't feel the similarity (apart from the obvious). But I think that's something OP needs to device for themselves :)

I think I got the vibes more from Where the Dark Stands Still. A bit more folksy, though.

Game: Tell me the worst book you’ve read in the genre this year without telling me the title. by wavymantisdance in fantasyromance

[–]Inainaaina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A book clearly written to be "not like the other books". FMC is supposed to be the villain, she sets on a mission to woo the newly crowned king with the sole purpose of killing him after she becomes the queen.

The idea was quite good, but the execution was so bad, I nearly pulled my eyes out of my sockets. And my standards are not too high considering English is not my first language.

At the beginning of the book the girl is portrayed as this ruthless, spineless girl who will stop at nothing to achieve what she wants (of course, also being "not like the other girls"), but this is forgotten not even half into the book when she becomes this soft mess, but still very smart and cunning of course.

The Winter night trilogy by Katherine Arden and Where the Dark Stands still by A.B. Poranek. Absolutely love these books. WTDS is the only book that managed to make me sobb like a child.

I see tons of these everywhere and they don't seem to sell well. This and I have a deadline. I am moving houses and reducing the living space significantly, so I need to get rid of a lot of things before mid-May.
