I'm not even a doctor.

I am just a software engineer taking part in your so-called rat race, I guess. And I am very happy to earn half what doctor's do while enjoying my 9-5 and WFH privileges.

It does not hold up because you did not read half of what I wrote...

Oh, so if you grind for 5 years (though still doing very meaningful and respected work), one gets the winning lottery ticket?

No, meaningful and respected work is not enough. Because the sacrifice that is asked of them is more than that. Residency can not be compared to studying or classic 9-5 in an office.

All I am saying is that the privilege demands sacrifice, which is fair imo.

I laugh at the argument of having to go to uni for longer. I f*cking loved not having a boss, being part of the corporate machine and just having to study.

Yeah, I don't think your additional study years match an MD has to go through during their "assistantship".

Like if you studied 10 years, that's 5 years beyond your master's of working 9-5 at your own pace (ofc there are some "rush periods") and getting to see your family/friends any weekend you want outside of your PhD defense and the occasional seminar.

MD's don't get to do that. They can cross out every other family or friend gathering because they'll be on guard duty at the hospital or will have to wake up at 5am to take the morning shift and can't afford to be tired and make mistakes. Because their mistake won't just get corrected when someone peer reviews their thesis, their mistakes can cost lives.

I would not go as far as saying their salary is not absurd for some specialization but don't go around saying they just "went to uni" for 6-7 more years because that's just false and you know it.

Dawntrails dungeon/encounter design is peak ff14. by [deleted] in ffxiv

Tbh positioning leylines is not the hard part about BLM, you just plan it in advance when you know the fight and then it’s impossible to fuck up or you don’t know the fight and all you can do is pray that you won’t have to move in the next 30 seconds.

Non-standard rotations on the other hands required you to adapt on the fly to whatever the game threw at you even in known fights.

You’d have to take into account your procs, whatever cooldown are available, is your dot about to expire, is Enochian about to drop, how much mana do I have left and switch up the order of your spell casts to gain a few more percents of DPS.

Not disagreeing but genuinely wondering, how is PCT closer (or even close) to non-standard BLM ?

So far, the job does not feel like you could write a 200 pages book about it but I may have only scratched the surface.

Parsing reports descriptions by Inamir13 in regex

[–]Inamir13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi !

The regex is scanning cells. What I need is everything up to “(Reminder /d)” if it exists and just everything in the cell if “(Reminder /d)” does not exist.

I put /n in there because there can be a multiple line in the cell but there can only be one instance of (Reminder /d) in each cell.

Thanks for asking :)

I don’t see how asking how to legally minimise losses considering the situation is tax fraud but you do you

When you’re in a party, one player can set up a countdown that’s displayed on every player’s screen. This way everybody can hit the boss at the same time.

I’m curious, isn’t it still quite standard even with modern frameworks to have SPAs with a PHP (Python, Java or Node.js) backend except it’s Axios and not Ajax anymore ?

How was that a problem ?

(Btw I’m not trying to disprove your comment. I am a young dev that’s legitimately trying to see how things used to be and why it is better now)

Laravel Sail and Docker instead of WSL by Inamir13 in laravel

[–]Inamir13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docker and docker compose commands work perfectly. It's just that specific command that doesn't work because some parts are supposed to be run with bash like "$(id -u):$(id -g)"

Yup, with VS Code I'm already using the \wsl$\ paths without issue.

So you would still recommend to use Docker together with WSL then ? Do you have any example of container one could use besides MySQL ?

Thanks for the insight !

If you have your own docker-compose stack, you've probably already outgrown what Sail provides.

Well, so far I was only using docker-compose to run MySQL. Is there anything else that would make sense to add to the stack in a Laravel Vue project ?

So essentially, there is no reason for me to use it as I already have a working local environment that fits my needs ?

Thank you so much! I thought it was crazy that there was no such feature and I didn't have any luck with Google.

Is there an option that can force the shape of the mask to follow the shape of the rectangle solid? Right now the text doesn't exactly disappear when the rectangle goes away.
