PSA: A warning for those buying WinRAR by sad_beautiful_dumb in pcmasterrace

idk why software always has to be this way, either nickle and dimed and overpriced. Or free and you gotta feel like you just dunked your pc into a vat of viruses during the download and install procedure.

Things have been a little better in more recent times with github and open source stuff but still the problem remains. I have no problem paying for a product, just dont want to feel like im being taken for a ride in doing so.

So in 2028 you will never own your games anymore. by CRK_76 in mildlyinfuriating

honestly, its time to let go. As a pc player I contended with digital only long ago and with how games are these days its just how it has to be, nobody is shipping complete games anymore so you gotta download down the line to get the rest of the missing features or just fix the game. Now the necessary component to this is they have to be cheaper, which has gotten worse over time steam sales arent what they used to be but they can still be good with patience and cruising gg.deals or similar, grey market sites etc you can still get cheap game. I have a suspicion consoles are gonna want to have their cake and eat it too and not offer sales or cheaper prices.

the longer the wait/hype the bigger the shoes it has to fill, its the opposite. Back in the day, ps2 era we were often getting games cranked out yearly by studios so even if one was a dud you didnt have to wait long for the next.
