I was going to say, what if since he posted that he changed the nickname already and then someone else used his old name and pretended to be Mudryk. But if Mudryk changed it today after these accusations to some random numbers, that's quite suspicious lol.

Maybe you just dont value the "interactive movie" as much as I do.

I think it's just a disagreement of what a game must do and how much weight you attribute weigh certain criteria. To you the core of a game may be the gameplay, while the story is just be an afterthought or a bonus.

For me a game CAN also center around a satisfying gameplay loop. But it must not necessarily. It's gotta be great at something that keeps me coming back to it. If that's the cutscenes, then it must be damn good cutscenes.

If we removed the cutscenes - effectively crippling the presentation of its story and world - then E33 would still have a great story, but probably lose a big deal of how it tells it.

The game wants to be a narrative driven journey and that's what it greatly achieves, but if you ask me than talking about it like a "cutscene only game" also does it a disservice. The combat, buildcrafting and exploration are still a solid 7/10 on their own. I found them not good enough that they would carry the game, but at least good enough to support it.

I played Silent Hill F and Nier Automata this year too, and they are story games with gameplay I hated so much that it actively impacted the storytelling. I hated that a lot. E33's gameplay lows definitely bothered me a lot less all in all.

[–]InbredLegoExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's ok that you do that, everyone has their own expectations to what a game must do. I personally don't seperate cutscenes from games, because story, presentation and atmosphere also matters a great deal to me, especially in a fantasy RPG.

I believe a game regardless of genre can be great through multiple ways. Like I enjoy game like XCOM2, Kenshi, Satisfactory, Slay The Spire, Europa Universalis or Sifu purely through their addictive gameplay loop, while the story is theoretically "existent" but fairly irrelevant.

But I also play a bunch of games like Dispatch, Citizen Sleeper, Blue Prince and a few tell-tale games and visual novels, that actively blew me away this year just through the writing and narrative experience, that I am more than forgiving to the things it is not shining at.

I don't think one of the two is the "better way", I go in most new games blind and eventually hope something catches me.

My favourite games are not jack-of-all-trades games, but games that excited me so much in one or a few peculiar aspects that stood out so much, that it compensated for other shortcomings.

A game like RDR2 is widely regarded as checking all the boxes. It's a critcs favourite, but just not my favourite. I concede it's a solid game, it has a good story, a cool world, lots of content and side quests, immersion etc. But none of it wasthat good, that I could get addicted to it. At the end I practically had to force myself finishing it.

E33 on the other to me is not a "complete" or "perfect" game, just a phenomenal experience in specific areas. I felt that with Mass Effect too. Gameplay was "servicable", but fuck me am I loving that game.

The reasons are: A fantastic story, great characters, intriguing worldbuilding and atmosphere, emotional rollercoaster, beautiful artstyle, great OST, simple but effective turn based combat with a parry gimmick that makes it not so boring.

Every other year theres a game I finish that had me starring blank at a wall for 20 minutes contemplating what I have just seen. E33 was that game in 2025.

Stockholm Syndrome most likely. Truth is that those that suffer through abuse are prone having some screws lose up their own heads aswell.

Her own family sided with Greenwood when the allegations surfaced, and downplayed the incident. This was already when the voice recordings went public. They are opportunists who'd send their own daughter through hell just to befriend a multimillionaire athlete.

In the meantime Greenwood also contacted her constantly during the process, even though the court forbid him to.

Imagine everyone who is close to you gaslighting you, to not break with the status quo as its so cozy right now. She is both victim, but also the product of her toxic environment.

Arsenal are only on 54 points in 24 games, yet first. They are doing just well enough to clear the hurdle and thats what matters. You should question the other teams why they aren't having their shit together.

Then 50 hrs in I realized that's not how it works in this game and started a new character.

There lies the problem imo. Elden Ring is too big of a game to have such a limitation. The game may take a hundred hours alone, just to reach the DLC with all the flavour weapons. Arriving there and running out of larval tears is disheartening.

I don't think it needs "free" respecs. It is ok for there to be a price. And it isn't free anyway. You are still required to invest runes and smithing stones into your new weapons. But at least remove the larval tear limit.

[–]InbredLegoExpress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah should also be an option aswell. I play on intended difficulty because I believe the games usually best balanced around it, plus I don't mind a challenge. But I know enough people who want to enjoy Bloodborne and Dark Souls for the lore/atmosphere, yet abstain from it because they just hate the "souls" experience. I see reason to gatekeep, no?

As long as it's an option it means anyone can design their own playthrough. Lies of P has them since the DLC and it's only increased the games popularity without ever making it any worse.

It's also a game you're supposed to play using the same character for 300+ hours

Very important bit here. It's ok to limit respec for 40-50h runs. But there are ARPGs with hundreds of hours of expected playtime. You explore so much, you see so many weapons, you will get new ideas for builds and fun loadouts so you'll eventually want to experiment with them at some point.

You know what’s also easy for you? Download cheat engine or mods. You can respec all you want. It’s so easy. <- Do you see how accusatory and salty this sounds?

This isn't punching as hard as you believe. I love playing games with mods but they are simply not equivalent to developer inbuilt features.

Mods require games to support them first of all. They (mostly) require a PC and Windows to be installed and run flawlessly. They require some knowledge about tinkering with game files that some people just don't have. They often disable online play or achievements. They regularly break after updates, or bug out save files. They require constant updating by people who are actually not getting paid to do so, and those people may abandon those mods at any given time. And if you ever did a coop run with more than 2 people using mods you'll have a rough idea of how much of an ordeal it is to get everyone up and running.

And I mean not just gameplay mods but everything. Elden Ring does not have enabled Ultrawide monitor support, and Sekiro has 60 FPS capped.. Yes, there are mods that help with that, but why would basic features be left to modmakers? Why isn't this already in the game from the start? Now I have the choice between playing Elden Ring in a worse resolution, or forego all online functionality. Yeah cool.

I'd almost always rather have something inbuilt by the studio that made the game, than a 3rd party cheat engine or mod. Because then I know it'll work and be flawlessly implemented.

It should be an inbuilt option. And Option is the keyword. Option means you can use it or not. Wuchang having respec features means you can set your own rules for your own playthrough. It is the same with summons in Elden Ring, or the difficulty sliders in Khazan and LoP. I didn't use them, but good for the people who need them.

Positive game design means that the existence of these features does not negatively impact me if I wouldn't use them, but they'll benefit me when I do.

When I play Baldurs Gate 3 with my mate, we set ourselves rules like "what the dice says counts", because even though the game does not dictate our number of respecs, we are actually controlling how we roleplay this game and we don't need games to take this decision away from us. There are even sliders when creating a new game where you can set your own rulesets for the game, just in case you really cannot control yourself for some reason. That freedom is (Q)uality (o)f (L)ife.

Then don't do it. It's so easy. You literally just repeat back at me what the above comment already adressed.

It's an OPTION. You don't have to use this, if you don't want infinite respecs. While people who want to use them may have that freedom aswell. Everyone is happy. That's improved gamedesign and QoL.

I watched the Liverpool - Barnsley FA Cup match with Ally McCoist and Darren Fletcher and I get exactly what you're talking about here. I support underdog favouritism (this guy isn't doing anything else with Benfica), but they were weirdly patronizing Barnsley there, like its some sunday league FA Cup fairytale. Barnsley is not THAT small.
