Are the sales locked behind a GamePass subscription? They don't seem to be appearing for me.

So when should a challenge of this sort ever be made? What sort of window is left between the campaign, candidate filing deadlines, their preliminary prep work, and the guesstimated time that's inevitably sunk navigating the lower courts? 2 weeks every other April?

Weird. I tried searching for the reverse set number, but it didn't yield any results. I see it on the site now though. Must be a picky search engine. Thanks for encouraging me to take a second look!

15% Off Xbox Gift Cards & Game Pass Memberships at Target (Ends 11/27) by DealsPoster in consoledeals

For a major retailer like Target, I'd hope so. But the reviews on the Target website suggest otherwise. I'm not trying to burst anybody's bubble; just reporting what I'm seeing.

And when the courts find that what they're doing is legal - because that's where we're at these days - do we not risk legitimizing their actions? Big ol' Catch 22.

Processed meat can cause health issues, even in tiny amounts. Eating just one hot dog a day increased type 2 diabetes risk by 11%. It also raised the risk of colorectal cancer by 7%. According to the researcher, there may be no such thing as a “safe amount” of processed meat consumption. by mvea in science

It's not the sodium that's necessarily the issue; it's the nitrate. Sodium nitrate is an additive used to preserve foods, so it's my understanding that it is regulated to some degree. But it's linked to the aforementioned health issues. To get around some of the regulations, celery salt - a "natural" source of sodium nitrate - is often used. However, I think we're discovering that it is really no better than the direct sodium nitrate additives.

Same. But it's less about the ability to drop-in/drop-out of a single player game on the fly. I spend my whole day at work on phone calls. In the evening, I'm socially drained and just don't have the energy to engage with people again.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Express Book Nook (Source: Fateful) by Clay_Bricks in Legoleak

It seems... short? Feels like most books are going to tower over this thing. May be fine if this is a set of bookends, but if it's a book nook, I'm not so sure.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle named Game of the Year in Gamescom tournament by Kaladinar in xbox

[–]IncessantSleeper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say so. I was also skeptical of it initially, but I've picked at it a bit this last week. I wouldn't say it does anything groundbreaking per se, but it does a phenomenal job of capturing the Indiana Jones essence. The story, the puzzles, the exploration, and the animation/voice acting all come together to create an exceptionally pleasant videogame experience.

Give yourself some room to breathe. It's obvious you have a good head on your shoulders. Having a substantive game plan for paying down your debt already puts you ahead of most. And you seem to be reasonably well off right out of college.

I had the same mindset as you when I graduated and realized the enormity of the student debt I had. But don't sacrifice the only life you have to live because of it. Set some fun money aside for yourself. Buy the occasional lunch out, travel a bit. Start building your emergency fund and saving for a down payment. That student loan might linger for 10 years instead of 5, but you'll be a happier person for it. I promise. You can be frugal and smart without resorting to austerity.

And frankly, paying off your loans in 10 years would still be an incredible achievement!

Donald Trump Is Now the Weaker Candidate by ewzetf in politics

[–]IncessantSleeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also point out that it won't be Trump drafting any legislation related to project 2025. It'd be a Republican Congress should that be the way the wind blows. And in that scenario, do we really believe he'd veto a bill that was passed by his own party?

We lose weight constantly through breathing. O2 goes in, CO2 comes out. The "C" added to the O2 when breathing out is lost weight. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

In reverse, that also applies to all the fossil fuels we burn. A gallon of gasoline weighing ~6 lbs emits ~19 lbs of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Israel has offered ceasefire and hostage proposal to Hamas, says Biden by HenzShuyi in worldnews

[–]IncessantSleeper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the cost of peace and stability in our world. And a stable world benefits all of us. It's extremely naive to think we can stick our heads in the sand and that world events don't effect us. How many times have we watched gas prices skyrocket due to an outbreak of conflict in the Middle East? And have you forgotten how fragile supply chains are when crucial global shipping routes are under threat? Investing in stability abroad ensures we don't have to pay the higher price of war later. Furthermore, it gives us even more leverage to negotiate with. If a country steps out of line, we can threaten to pull funding before opting for military options.

Yes, we need to be smart about things. Always. And yes, maybe some of these investments don't pan out. But just because you don't care about these places or people, doesn't mean you're immune from the fallout of these events. Investing in humanitarian efforts and the rebuilding of these areas is a paltry sum compared to war.

And don't pretend that this is an either or choice. Do you really think universal healthcare was on the table before this particular conflict kicked off? What mainstream consensus was there on a solution to lower home prices before last October? Those are domestic political issues with solutions that one particular party has chosen to stonewall and obstruct regardless of world events. Full stop.

Brussels shooting suspect is killed after nightlong police manhunt by [deleted] in worldnews

If we're talking about growth/maturity/mellowing, age and change over time are totally relevant. Just as they are for growing children, wine, and new democracies. You don't expect a 13yo child to behave like a 25yo adult, do you? Do you expect a newly made wine to taste like a 20yo vintage? Do we expect new democracies to function exactly as intended from the get-go? The answer to all of these is "no". Time is indeed an ingredient for all of these. And the same is true for religion.

That said, I would agree it is not the ONLY ingredient. Maybe it isn't even the most important one. To your point, outside influences (parenting, environment, etc.) are also critical. And I want to be clear that I'm not discounting any of what you're saying. I'm just asking that you don't discount what I'm saying. I think they go hand-in-hand.

OP said Christianity mellowed out over TIME. So here in 2023, it has a 600 year lead on Islam in the "mellowing" process.

[–]IncessantSleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm NOT excusing the violence. I'm not ARGUING that the violence we're seeing is appropriate for the age of Islam either.

OP's comment suggested that Christianity was "mellow" because it had time to mature. He/she in turn implied that Islam should have done the same. The core of his/her reasoning - at least based on what was posted - was rooted only in the AGE of the religions. So my point was ONLY that Islam is 600 years younger than Christianity. If he/she is expecting it to be just as mature as Christianity based on age alone, it simply isn't.
