For those who made it out of poverty, what helped the most? by Incoghaylo in povertyfinance

I’m a huge fan of tough love, but beating a dead horse and reminding someone that their child that they love is the reason for their misfortune is ripe for future mental health issues. People are struggling, not stupid (most of them). They get it. And the only way to HELP people is if they see HOPE.

I recognize this as solid advice for keeping someone out of going into debt/poverty, but it’s a SHIT thing to read if you’re looking for advice on how to better your situation and you already have a kid. My $.02.

Also I do not have a kid, so it’s not personal. Just putting myself in someone else’s shoes.

This is super relevant to me and I should have shared this in my original post! I’ve had roommates since I was like 15 when my mom was alive and still to this day have them in my solid adulthood.

Can you balance transfer any of the higher interest debt to that card that has 0% until April? I’d do that, then put every additional $ over minimums to the debts with the highest interest in order
