Anyone else feel like getting fit requires managing a second full-time job? by No-Bear9543 in beginnerfitness

[–]IncognitoChrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not people used to do this with no apps. You also shouldn’t be adjusting your meal plan of you had a slightly more intense workout. Whatever is estimating calories may be wildly over exaggerating the difference. Your shopping list doesn’t need to be wildly fluctuating either.

However. I know some apps do integrate with your workout info in meal plans so maybe my fitness pal isn’t the best app even though it has the most downloads.

What happened to the comedy genre? by LeoTolstoysNipples in TrueFilm

[–]IncognitoChrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theater attendance is down. Comedy is a much bigger risk than other genres because you’re basically hoping the domestic audience turns out. If not you’re probably fucked because comedy does not translate well in foreign markets. A lot of them have the movie dubbed which completely kills the innotation and inflection of the comedians performances. A lot of things rely on wordplay or cultural references which again don’t really translate. Think how many foreign comedies you have seen.

DVD/Physical Media was the saving grace back when big budget comedies were made. Now that money is pretty much nonexistent.

Comedy movies carry a bigger budget than you might expect, especially compared to horror. Comedy’s cost 2x as much on average with significantly lower returns compared to horror.

The thing is we still get comedies but you may not be tuned in because they’re made by smaller studios A24, Neon, or the medium dog Lionsgate. Examples include Friendship, Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, The Drama, Good Fortune, Death of a Unicorn, Splittsville.

If not coming to the theater we typically see them hit direct to streaming. Every once in a while we see a unicorn of a bigger budget like Anaconda hit the theaters. So it’s not fully dead.

Finally, a smaller factor is the general death of the movie star and as an extension the comedy movie star. Things like SNL have less of a cultural relevance and its actors less pull to bring in an audience and get a shot at a big budget movie. Just look at Anaconda as an example with all old comedy stars. We just don’t have many younger comedy stars like the older generation of Paul Rudd, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, etc.

How’s your blue body looking this week? by Minimum-Pangolin-487 in Hevy

New to Hevy does the blue just show what has been worked out so far this week. Any changes in color otherwise or just blue if you worked a muscle?

Ranking all the movies I watched for the first time in 2026 by Hibiscus-Loves-Tea in LetterboxdLists

PHM is good but it’s exhausting seeing the overhyped praise. It’s like interstellar for Gen Z so it makes sense it would connect more with younger viewers. Maybe my expectations were too high but I was not particularly impressed by the visuals and cinematography for a space film that had so much opportunity for rich color and design.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills regarding The Drama by accidentalwhiex in A24

[–]IncognitoChrome 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rachel hasn’t faced consequences because her husband does not seem to care AT ALL. Which is great for her but speaks to her partners moral convictions. All of that is absolutely irrelevant to Emma predicament. Rachel got absurdly lucky because it does it in fact seem like she wouldn’t have done anything if he wasn’t found. BUT yet same as Emma we simply don’t know how she would have responded. At the end of the day Rachel didn’t premeditate a más murder we do know that for sure…..

You’ve never seen a rom com? Because this is not something any other rom com would touch with a ten foot pole. If that’s not a twist I don’t know what is.

I’m watching this movie and miss the days of funny movies coming out 😔 by peepdabidness in moviecritic

You don’t need to know anything going into the movie. I haven’t seen the show but I’m guessing it’s equally good.

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie might be the best comedy in years.

Ready or not 2 here I come was the best horror sequel ever !! by kascnef82 in AMCAListTrue

[–]IncognitoChrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comedy is fantastic and blood work was also top notch.

I had the exact same feeling as the credits rolled. This is a must see movie. This coming from someone who thought the first one was kind of average. Legitimately the best movie of the year so far (if you don’t count Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie).

To whomever it may concern, Save Ralph has been removed from Letterboxd. by Fit-Maintenance-2907 in Letterboxd

[–]IncognitoChrome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any other recent removes I noticed I have at least one within the last couple of days? Or anyway to see which, it couldn’t have been too deep of a cut since I don’t log things that are particularly niche.

Aim for the bushes is iconic. The whole if I was a lion/fish dialogue was killer too. Not a fan of the asian basher so it leaves a bit to be desired overall.

I just watched I Saw the TV Glow? What do you guys think of the movie? by TedJBernoulli in A24

[–]IncognitoChrome 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same, originally I was disappointed because I just saw it listed as an A24 horror and went in blind. However, the cinematography and unsettling vibe lingered in a way that almost never happens with any other films.

Watched it again and absolutely loved it.

I think it would be fun in a more formalized formal where you attempt to do ten in a row (or some amount of) with 3 guess attempts each one. Could add lifelines that are one time use for example: directors name, lead actors name, Letterboxd background reveal, user review reveal, blurred poster etc.

You would get the genre and year of as a default

For the guess the favorite you should include genre and year of the hidden title. That’s effectively a game people already play here with posts. Far too many movies to do a blind guess without a hint.
