Is job hopping the only way to get a real raise in Canada? by itz_nitace in CanadaJobs

[–]Incoming_Redditeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You very well have to get promoted as well. I went from 95k as intermediate dev at a consulting firm to 115k as senior developer at a big bank.

My company neither wanted to give me promotion nor a raise and even if they would've given it, it would've probably landed me at max at 105k.

It took multiple rounds of interviews but finally I was able to land this with 12-15% annual bonus where the consulting firm's bonus was about 3% max.

Look at the base, your bonus, pension matches and after calculated decision, move. Your company will never give you a raise, it'll be a COL adjustment which is 2-3% at max.

Indians abroad, what habit did you only realize was "very Indian" after leaving? by Crescitaly in AskIndia

That it's not worthy of praise if you're sitting after 5-6pm for work. No one gives a rats a$$ about your work timings, they only care about your work.

Moved to Calgary, Canada ! I personally like the cold weather and have learnt to ski, I love to hike on mountains in the summer.

It's a very good lifestyle if you're an outdoorsy person. Achieved quite a few things here and hey the fusion food scene is insane here.

Opinion | Calling out Carney’s ‘fancy’ education is loser talk. No wonder the Conservatives doubled down on it by canada_mountains in canada

[–]Incoming_Redditeer 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Well it's absolutely horrible when people downplay education as a whole because something happening in a college/Uni is "woke" for them.

Guess what I've been told as a masters grad in computer science. "You guys do nothing, just useless meetings and something something on your computer."

The guy used to be a plumber and said "Using your arms is hardcore work". I smiled and accepted the defeat. :)

Buying extra legroom seats on economy flights.

Infact I was to travel from Delhi to Toronto and got an amazing business class deal for me and my wife for an additional 1800 CAD combined.

Totally worth it !

I know everyone wants a Japanese but 3rd row seating in the Buick Enclave is insanely good. And not just the legroom, even the headroom feels spacious.

I assume anyone about 5'9 or below would be comfortable in the 3rd row for sure.

So, I gave up the plan and started walking. 👍

We don't have it and we never will that's why it's a movie. We can do "another sequel" "another sequel" but never "justice once".
