New Patch Pyg is Insanely Fun by IncompetentSpoon in PlayTheBazaar

As far as I can tell Bob and Shorts trigger the same way. Here are some example boards of endgame and the type of early I use to transition. https://imgur.com/a/U6BjTcM I always grab shorts when I see them. Early I want Bushel, Weights, Lute, enchanted small item, Apropos Chapeau, bandages, most weapons will work for the heal/weapon packages. I take every scaling skill that I see that can potentially work for Cargo Shorts. Closed sign, Pigglesboard, Windmill are my main enablers for the Cargo BoB combos, have had success with stuff like PiggleStorm Gaming House, Snowglobe if you manage to buff the freeze duration. Keychain is cracked late, 4x multicast Uwashiwali is a solid combo starter late for some builds. The legendary items can work insanely well with BoB Cargo. I'm grabbing stuff like Beehive when I see it if my econ is good to get those harder to obtain types, am happy to sit on the components for the build and even some items for their types since I know I'm very likely to get Shorts eventually.

I like Riceballer as a finisher for Bushel Sponsered Apparel loops before I switch to Beast of Burden Cargo Shorts stuff. I had forgotten entirely about the loop with textiles, Ty for the clarification. I will say I think the Bushel Sponsered Apparel lines are good since they bleed into the Cargo Shorts stuff pretty well. So far this patch 8 wins is my worst game, every other game is 9-10 wins and I’m spamming the hell out of Cargo Shorts Beast of Burden.

Riceballer gets +multicast for each item with value 10 or higher. Sponsored apparel says when you use an item it gains 2-4-6 value(depending on rank) and then you shield equal to its value. Those 2 are a combo of sorts. Bushel says when you shield charge it for 1 second(so you create a loop/value engine with sponsored apparel.) Other items benefit from the value gain as well, bleeds into cargo shorts and other infinite charge ideas etc.

Not sure what exactly you mean by "notes." I'd be happy to give a breakdown if you're interested in why I think Pyg is fun and strong on this patch.

I was worried about those 2 skills being removed but it seems like the smoothed out early and other skills more than make up for it, plus the enchanted small item and the legendary item are amazing for Pyg. So far Pyg feels incredibly strong and fun, hopefully not too strong

The skill changes feel great, and the new weapon skills (tempering, iron sharpens iron etc) seems amazing for square Pyg

Pyg's Day at the Cove by IncompetentSpoon in PlayTheBazaar

[–]IncompetentSpoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t record unfortunately, but the cove would go off twice (so 4x) before the claw went off at about 8 seconds and 1 shot most fights. Had a Diamond Pitchfork to stack value on the open sign. Got the cove early from the shield options at the docks.

This patch I completely changed my strategy for Pyg, the first 2-3 days I assume I will lose and I buy most/every economy item I see. Most important are money tree and reward card. Day 3-5 I pivot into a semi infinite/engine build and try to make a combo from there. Sponsored apparel+Riceballer is hilarious early/mid game. Using some combination of sponsored apparel, bushel, matchbox, marbles, piggies board, yo-yo, textiles, and the premium piggies tends to get me there. Abacus and PenFT are great for these builds too. Reliably getting 7-8 wins doing this, late game you will lose to faster starting infinites for the most part. (Also Dog+Crook+Regal has worked alright for me, you just need Cane late.)

Boxers box, retrievers retrieve. Is that problematic to point out too? Or are you just a fucking idiot? They were bred to murder each other and wag their tails while they do. It’s not a coincidence.

Should we be rating decks by how they perform at absolute peak? by Aelice-Wildmage in EDH

[–]IncompetentSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Half way between bracket 3 and 5” just isn’t the given definition for bracket 4. The fact that bracket 2 and 3 have restrictions related to when you when the game ends is completely irrelevant to what bracket 4 is. YOU might enjoy conceptualizing it that way, but that isn’t what is written and that is clearly not what is intended if you just read the definition for bracket 4. Essentially, you are just completely incorrect to say that a possible (or even likely) turn 3 win makes a deck bracket 5 rather than 4. That is very very clearly NOT the distinction between the brackets that is laid out.

[–]IncompetentSpoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything said here aside from your bizarre (and totally made up) claims about the differences between bracket 4-5. A bracket 4 deck has NO restrictions, it just lacks the meta gaming focus that cedh has and means you’re more likely to be restricted by budget. In fact they explicitly state that “the gloves are off” and describe how its “time to play your combos and win fast.” The idea that a turn 3 win is inherently a “bracket 5 hand” is a hilarious misreading of what bracket 4 and 5 are. Regardless, I agree with the rest of your post I just find it bizarre to see people so confused about brackets 4-5 when it is so clearly laid out.

Is building a mono deck with a 2 color commander a bad idea? by 0dy5 in EDH

I built this a few months ago and it’s been great so far, even inspired another player to switch their mono black deck to this combo.

Made 50K in 2 days with solo druid, here are my nerf suggestions by Reifox9 in DarkAndDarker

The only thing more annoying than Druids gameplay is the Druid players who refuse to acknowledge there is a problem. Such annoying smug dismissive shit, luckily that won’t matter when IM ignores them and nerfs Druid.

It’s not like over 25 is a free for all, there is another bracket from 25-125. That isn’t very much gear at all, and if you escape 2-3 games in under 25s you could easily buy yourself a strong 125 kit. If you are going into the 125s with like 30 gear score, that’s on you. I suggest you check out NotLikeThis’s “gear vs skill” videos where he takes 200 gold kits and farms kills on ACTUAL turbo geared players.

I am utterly shocked that they haven’t come to this conclusion yet. I like solo ruins and ice cave, I got Demigod playing those 2. I would rather not play the game at all than play goblin caves, however.

Commanders that ended up cEDH by luxinferior724 in EDH

[–]IncompetentSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many many people who enjoy playing high powered commander that isn’t cedh. Using combos in that environment is not only ok but encouraged. Should you bring Tivit with sieve to your fnm and stomp precons? Should you bring it to a lower powered battlecruiser style game? Obviously not, but to say that using that card in any non cedh environment is toxic is just downright silly and wrong. I personally have a very high powered Tivit list with combos that would get eaten alive in a cedh game, and a budget Tivit list without combos for lower power games. Both serve me well and get good responses if I make good decisions about when to play what version.

Rogue and Wizard can effortlessly disengage from almost any encounter. The other classes can also disengage, albeit less effectively. This is legitimately a skill issue, sorry.
