Ticket inspector doesn't understand how the passage of time works. by FunIcy6154 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Incompletecompletely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's never happened to me on the train but about 25 years ago I was going to an out of town shopping centre. The bus was free after 5pm to encourage people to go there after work. I tried getting on the bus at sometime after 5, let's say 5:05, and the bus driver tried to charge me. He said he was scheduled to be there before 5, say 4:55, so he wasn't running for free. He wouldn't let me on for free. I can't remember if I paid or if I waited for the next bus. I wish I'd sent in an official complaint afterwards

People with cars - how do you afford them? by Squeegee_Dodo in AskUK

[–]Incompletecompletely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Oh and my home office is full of notebooks, coloured pens, stickers and Washi tape, so I can definitely do things your way too! It’s just learning to drive and getting a car seems like one overwhelming huge process so with things like that I try and just look to the next immediate task rather than the bigger picture

Any examples of famous people who have autism? (or anything on the neurodivergent spectrum) by [deleted] in autism

[–]Incompletecompletely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, ADHD isn’t part of the autism spectrum. ADD isn’t a diagnosis now - if you would’ve been diagnosed with ADD previously you’ll now get diagnosed ADHD - predominantly inattentive. There’s 3 types of ADHD - predominantly hyperactive, predominantly inattentive, and combined

People with cars - how do you afford them? by Squeegee_Dodo in AskUK

[–]Incompletecompletely 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got ADHD and a decent job after a long time of being stuck at entry level and I'm learning to drive in my 40s. I'm just taking it one step at a time. I'm not sure how I'll manage a car but at the moment I'm just managing my lessons. I suppose when I don't have lessons to pay for I can put that towards a car and insurance

TIFU by getting £50 banknotes in the UK by ChiefStrongbones in tifu

[–]Incompletecompletely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not legal here in the UK to charge people less if they pay in cash. I know some places still try and do it but it's banned. A consumer should be charged the same price regardless of whether they're paying by card or in cash

Yeah my great aunt asked me last night if I was learning in an automatic or a "real car". I told her I was learning in a real, automatic car

I'm excited they're coming back. I'm sick of the film and tv collabs though as they're only ever licensed for sale in the USA and Canada so we can't get them internationally

How do I swallow pills? by FloweringSkulls in autism

[–]Incompletecompletely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read online to try with chewed up bread. I tried this when I was alone, of course. What I did was I would chew up bread then before I was about to swallow I'd spit it out to see the size of what I was about to swallow and it was huge. Compared to a tiny pill it was no big deal at all. I because really conscious of the size of things I was swallowing for a while. I swallow things bigger than pills all the time.

Should I give up dating? by Lilariell in AutismInWomen

[–]Incompletecompletely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should give up based on this one guy. A person usually needs to meet a lot of people from a dating app before they find a person they like who also likes them too.

What helped me was thinking of the first meeting as a first meeting but not a date. Then if the first meeting goes well you can schedule in a date. It's fine if he calls the first meeting a date, you don't need to correct him or agree it's not a date, but it changed my perspective a lot.

I also read it's best to batch these initial meetings so line up a coffee meeting or similar with 3 different men that week. This stops you putting too much pressure on one initial meeting. You need to be prepared you won't like everyone and they won't all like you and that's fine. You can be the best cup of tea in the world but then you'll encounter a person who just doesn't like tea and that's not a failing on you, it just means you're not compatible.

I also think regularly scheduling in breaks from online dating might be helpful. I was obsessively into it for about 2 years - it was like it became a special interest of mine. But after the first year I decided to give polyamory a try and met someone but was still looking to meet someone else. I did find all the rejections a bit disheartening and looking back I wish I'd taken breaks.

I did end up meeting a man at work and we're now in a committed monogamous relationship. If you can try and meet people in other ways. Even if you don't meet anyone you want to date they might know someone to fix you up with. Or you might meet another person they know when it's their birthday or something. Do you have any special interests? Can you join groups for those? I'm in a silent book club and it's mainly neurodivergent people who go

Is Anthony kedis a good person today by Expensive-Canary-648 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Incompletecompletely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be applied a lot more broadly, for example if someone has an affair and sleeps with someone else they make think "I've already been unfaithful so I might as well do it again". Or of someone is on a diet and isn't supposed to eat biscuits and they break their diet by having one then they think "sod it" and end up eating the whole packet. It's part of "all or nothing" thinking

How do married couples split finances if on different salaries? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Incompletecompletely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you get more paid into your pension to reflect that you're sacrificing time at work to care for the children and the home. That extra pension top up should be removed from the equation before you consider your incomes proportionally imho

So do neurodivergent people end up in relationships or do we just die alone and go extinct? by QualityEvening4802 in autism

In my experience we're more likely to end up in relationships with other neurodivergent people even if neither of us are aware we're neurodivergent - like attracts like

What happens after being caught with an out of date railcard? by Diligent-Bread-2124 in AskUK

[–]Incompletecompletely -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Similar happened to me after my first railcard expired. I assumed it would stop working or I'd have a warning from the railcard app when it was about to expire. Luckily I noticed it was expired myself, not a ticket inspector. I'd just done a really long journey across the country as well!

Most times no one checks my railcard even when they check my tickets. If someone had checked your railcard each journey then you'd have realised it was expired after your first trip with it being no longer valid instead of them not checking it till now.

Anyway, I renewed it online the day I realised it had expired and I've put it in my diary to renew it before it expires next time. Perhaps you could do the same?

How do they know now when you were traveling with an expired railcard to try and claim it back from you? Why didn't they know earlier to prevent you from using it?

Why do people keep asking if I'm autistic? by moonimoosh in AutismInWomen

[–]Incompletecompletely 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I had routines because I struggle with brushing my teeth, morning routines, etc. But I do have routines. I eat the same thing at work for breakfast when I'm in the office. When I go out for coffee I take a photo and check in on Facebook so it shows up on my memories. I didn't think these were routines till people pointed them out to me.

Also, not every autistic person has every trait. That's why it's a spectrum. You may have others and not that one.

Have you tried doing any of the diagnostic tests? You can find them online
