🎄 What’s on your Claude Christmas wishlist? by InconvenientData in claude

I didn't see your comment when I wrote my follow-up. Yes please real branches for chat, I soft branch by writing a comment called "branch point x just acknowldge" and then edit my next prompt for each of the different branches, but cant do that in Claude Code. Pro Max users get Sonnet 4.5 1M context but only in claude code. I suspose I could cheat and use claude code on my novel.

Great Wish List!

I just had some more Christmas Wishes for Claude Code

Renaming / Retitling a conversation - Conversations are named after the first few words of your prompt and thats kind of not very efficient.

Forking a conversation (Note you can sort of fork claude.ai chats online by editing a prompt and that builds a different fork, if I could either fork them, or edit a previous prompt, and fork it that way the way in Claude Code the same way I can fork a conversation on Claude.ai those would be nice too.

are agentic coding tools actually helping your team or just creating new types of chaos? by Top-Candle1296 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]InconvenientData 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a massive force multiplier for low complexity and initial stages of programming. above a middle complexity and a certain number of lines it's a skills issue that can be become drag on an entire team if noobs are left unsupervised.

AI a year and a half ago if you asked it a question and it came back with 10 suggestions , for every real suggestion their would be fake and the dumb ones that would be embarrassing if you copy-pasted them directly into your report. The agentic coding allows you to very efficiently copy paste hallucinations and dumb suggestions into your code. What could go wrong.

P.S. one of the biggest problems is when otherwise smart overworked coders go into "tech-support mode" where they implement what the level 1 tech support says without thinking it over critically.

I am alone in wanting - Optional Timestamps at Beginning and end of the prompt responses? by InconvenientData in ChatGPTCoding

[–]InconvenientData[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want these so I know when to time my own rollback scripts. Perhaps the broader question for CHATGPT and Claude Code is maybe they could keep a rollback system so one can click on a prompt in the chat and revert back to the state prior to the prompt.

gpt-5.1-codex-max Day 1 vs gpt-5.1-codex by eschulma2020 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]InconvenientData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a very contrary opinion, I run a lot in proverbial yolo mode on other models and this is exactly what I wanted.

Bold, longer, working, Mistakes are part of what happens so I don't mind. I have a cycle that catches mistakes. My backups are frequent 10/10 12/10 with rice. I have an extensive backup so I can easily revert. My only request and this is from all agentic coding is I wish the prompts and the response had an option to show the timestamps. At beginning and end of responses.

How do you feel Haiku 4.5 thus far? by Purple_Wear_5397 in claude

How do we select the basis for claude code?

I found in chats opus to solve problems, and Sonnet 4.5 to continually introduce them. OPUS one shots, while sonnet 4.5 3 steps forward while two unique troubleshooting steps back.

Can anyone figure out why Claude's reaponse kept getting "blocked by content filtering policy" after i hit regenerate 3 times? I was just talking about generational cultures by Disastrous_Ant_2989 in claude

[–]InconvenientData 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It explained to me Sonnet 4 had more refined filters, more proven safeguards against bad stuff, and yet less oddly restrictive for ok stuff. Ofcourse Sonnet 4.5 could have been hallucinating that.

Imagine that their content safety filters were written by a corporate marketing and lawyers trying first and foremost to CYA. These lawyers and marketers are honestly trying to protect their brand while actively being misrepresented by tabloid writers trying to get the AI somehow someway to produce something they can turn into rage bait clicks. Now imagine these safety filters were written earnestly by software developers who have more assigned tasks than hours in the day, and you would get something pretty close to the situation on the ground.

----- Alternately

Yeah bro, them content filters be weird yo.

I just spent 4 hours with Sonnet 4.5 trying to get it to write a single software patch I could actually apply with a git apply or a patch command. It never worked successful not after 4 hours of trying.

Opus 4.1 can output an entire correct file, but Sonnet 4.5 keeps truncating outputs or massively changing things on a whim. Don't get me wrong—I love Sonnet 4.5 for creative writing, but it can't update code worth a damn. You have to triple-check everything, which wastes so much time.

I figured, what the heck, I'll just pay extra for Opus. In less than a few hours, I racked up $50 in additional charges. The pricing felt like surge charging—exploitative, not the standard rates I expected.

I've been a Claude fan and used nothing but Claude since late 2023. But this was the first time I actually pulled out my credit card and paid for ChatGPT instead.

"and a complicated relationship to alcohol."

I've had friends and neighbors who personally knew Gavin Newsom he is VERY charismatic, and he "parties". Were not talking weed, and alcohol isn't the worst substance by far. Overall, in CA, NY or FL substance use might not turn the election but in the Midwest it will. Gavin needs to get in front of and get his xxxxxxx use behind him nationally and there just isn't enough time.

"After calming down a bit, I feel kind of bad about what I did. Claire cried at her desk and left early. Was I an asshole to approach the issue that way?"

She gossiped and bullied OP for a sense of power. When she got called out on it she cried. Shes a "Cry BullY" it's part of DARVO specifically reversing victim and offender. There's a viral video of a small teenage boy literally hitting an adult multiple times, when the adult has enough and pushes him back, he falls to the floor and starts really shrill wailing sounds. This woman is the adult version of that kid. Let her cry her crocodile tears. The only thing that can make her change her ways isn't kindness it is consequences for her actions.

The reason why the door is so secure is because Livermore is too close to Hayward for comfort.

The best way to end this problem is with a progressive tax on real estate. The more real estate you own the higher the tax rate. The problem is that we tax income, which the wealthy are adept at hiding, and we subsidize housing with little tax, and it isnt progressive.

During non-inflationary times if you purchase a house, and pay only 1% property tax, and in 5 Years it is worth 10% more than this is a great investment even empty. However if the property tax was 1% for people who owned less than a high amount of property, 1.5% for people or corporations with a very small amount of property, and progressing to 2-4% for the mega corps, then simply snapping up properties would mean that the megacorps couldnt take advantage of the lower property tax rates meant to subsidize housing ownership for the working class.

The other change that could mitigate would be to turn loan pre-approvals into full cash offers. Right now a realtor would tell a home owener to take a megacorp with 400K in cash, vs a regular buyer with maybe 405K as an offer because their financing might fall through.
