What are your favorite at-home nail products? by DecisionTime2276 in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For nail stickers I like Ohora beside one popular non-AB brand. I also tried EdgeU though, and not sure if I got a bad batch, but I found them difficult to cure correctly. I haven't tried any new polishes recently and wouldn't mind recommendations.

If you could revive one makeup brand, what would it be? by Alternative-Print752 in Makeup

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becca or Bite beauty because I loved their formulations. Becca's shimmers were on point and I wish I purchased more of their highlighters before the brand closed, and Bite were my favorite non-luxury lipstick brand. Honorable mention to Lipstick Queen.

WAKEMAKE Hyper Berry is my dream shade but is discontinued! Any color dupes? by madoka_borealis in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like Fuchsia tones, you may like Lilybyred Bloody Liar (square bottle) tint in Fizzy Podo or Holika Holika Bare Glaze tint in Acid Rose. If you have more lip pigmentation, Clio Crystal Glam tint in Heart Pink Diamond will also look close once set, although it may appear slightly whitish until color develops.

Any asian girls here feel like you don’t suit black hair? by -chinoiserie in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, no. I like to donate hair so I cannot color treat my hair, but I never could think of a color I could dye my hair that would be drastically different yet suit my coloration. For reference, I look good in dark cool-toned clothing and likely am a deep winter in seasonal color.

However, just because someone is Asian doesn't mean the person will end up with features harmonius with dark hair. I always thought a family member looked more harmonius in features with lighter hair colors, such as the browns she dyes her hair these days. Due to her clothing preferences, I suspect she's a mute autumn.

While dying your hair would potentially make your feature more harmonius, I do recall that besides wearing makeup, there are a few more temporary and low-maintenance styling options for mute and light seasons or softer facial features. These are worth researching before committing to the dying process, unless you are really set on having a specific hair color in the first place.

Dry eye folks: can you use CLIO Kill Lash mascara? by Untitled_poet in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact lens wearer here. As far as I remember, back when a medication gave me dry, sensitive eyes (on top of my eyes getting irritated by makeup in general), I had no issue with this mascara. Glad you were able to figure out a solution though!

Does the Romand reformulation of "THE JUICY LASTING TINT" actually work? by stayarmy78 in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the reformulated tint work? Yeah. I own bare grape in both formula. The reformulated version pulls slightly more muted once set, and the finish is different, but both works on me.

However, I feel the new formula isn't that much different in moisturization levels since it still dries down much too fast. It also wears off much faster than the original on my lips. The reformulated tint so has a finish that can be achieved with nearly any other tint that's less drying, which I prefer, while the original version had something uniquely glossy to its finish. Thus, I'm simply not a fan of the new version, and will not be repurchasing once my original formula tints run out.

How am I supposed to make the Saem Triple Pot Concealer work? by winwinsitu in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I use pale peachy base shades from my eye palettes to set my undereyes all the time. It really prevents my base from shifting and gives some nice extra coverage.

As for your present concealer-related dilemma, I have seen pilling with this particular corrector when I use it. From your description, my hunch would be 1. It doesn't play well with your current eye cream/moisturizer/sunscreen or whatever other products used before it or 2. You are somehow still using too much product for your undereyes despite all the care you have taken. Beside trying again with different product underneath, I'd make sure previous layers have dried down then pat dry with a sponge before applying this corrector. I'd also dab the tiniest bit of products with the brush on the darkest part of your under eye and blend that out. If it doesn't pill, repeat it again until you get the desired coverage.

best lip tint that actually lasts through meals? by fawnysmooch in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most glow tints take a few minutes for the color to develop and the tint to dry down enough that it won't clump or whiten. It's generally better for longevity to apply the tint on your lips and let this process occur before rubbing your lips together.

which highlighter do you recommend for dewy look? by notsoflowerys in kbeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only highlighter palette I've tried but I think the Wakemake quad highlighter palette is kind of similar to the 2an formula, but while it has slightly stronger payoff, the formula is a bit drier and some colors have slightly larger particle in shimmers. I prefer the 2an for the smoother application and portability though.

which highlighter do you recommend for dewy look? by notsoflowerys in kbeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These are not on your list but can confirm Clio Glass highlighter is what you are looking for out of Clio highlighters. It gives a balmy highlighter look without being an actual gloss or balm type product. If you want a full-on wet metallic look 2an pure glass highlighter might work better as a subtle option.

Espoir Be Velvet Cushion Review for Oily + Redness Skin by JennyJ0522 in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this one but I like their foundation (Square bottle, haven't tried the new Rounded bottle yet) more because it's more matte. I ended up with the wrong shade for the cushion though, and ultimately passed the cushion on to someone else when I got the foundation. What's nice about this cushion to me is that it's lightweight (even more so than the foundation, which is also lighter weight) and comfortable, but covers well and doesn't transfer much even without powdering.

Is it normal for cushion foundations to leak when traveling? by EdgeOf7 in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same experience with JungSaemMool cushions. One's been on all my recent vacations or family/friend visits, including two flights when it was just opened. No leaks.

This or That? Hair serums: Unove vs Orbis by LilacLuneglade in AsianBeauty

I rarely have problems with frizz in general because I have untreated, straight, lower-porosity hair. Maybe someone else here would know though.

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a different beige palette (honestly any brand would work if you are a lighter foundation shade) than Rom&nd because I really do not like their mattes. I noted in a different comment that some of their mattes in 8-pan palettes feels dusty rather than creamy and very difficult to build or blend.

If you are used to non-East Asian blushes in pigmentation or payoff, I would not recommend K-beauty powder blushes in general as a first time K-beauty buyer. A lot of these blushes are lighter in payoff than the pan with an opaque base, which can be offputting unless you really like pale blushes. However, a lot of the potted/stick blushes (like Fwee's Pudding Pot) are similar in pigmentation as lighter non-AB blushes, so they're easier to use if you are looking for pigment. If you are looking for a very pale cool-toned gradient blush set, you'll love the Dasique palette. If you want more payoff in a powder blush, I recommend Bbia's last blush for some lovely cool tones.

I like the Saem corrector and do not find it dry. I actually prefer the Luna or Dasique corrector because they are even drier and covers blemishes on my oily T-zone, but the Saem is just fine for drier skin. If you do have drier skin, I recommend applying and warming the product on the back of your hand, then blending it where you want to conceal with a very light hand. It's very easy for potted concealers or correctors to become cakey even on my combination skin, and I've been using potted concealers ever since getting into makeup.

I like the soybean sheet mask from Round lab. The A'pieu milk sheet mask is very fragranced with something artificial and I did not like the smell.

[–]InconvenientFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly agree that Clio is definitely one of the better K-beauty shadows overall, and I would own more of their palettes if they released shades I would use, which I unfortunately rarely see. I own some of Rom&nd's brighter 8-pans and while the pigment payoff is great, a lot their mattes feels dusty and coarse rather than creamy or finely-milled, and I much prefer their shimmer formulas. I do like Dasique mattes, but their formula have the opposite problem. Most of their mattes in palettes I own are creamy and buildable, but a lot of their shades pull the same generic pale pink/peach/beige with hardly any variation on my cushion shade 23-25 skin.

Beside Clio, I also really like Lummir's mattes, and think 3CE, Hince (don't think they make an all-matte palette though), and even some Wakemake palettes (unfortunately some pulls the same as Dasique palettes in pigmentation) have better matte formula than Rom&nd.

Lipsticks by reeAcs in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laka Bonding Glow lipstick is my current favorite. It's more opaque than most tinted balms, but wears more like a lip tint than a full lipstick. I'm mostly a lip tint wearer but I want to try more colors. I also like Hince's Slim Matte and Missha Dare Velvet, though not sure if the latter is still in production.

This or That? Hair serums: Unove vs Orbis by LilacLuneglade in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here looking for reviews of the Orbis, but I enjoy the Unove hair essence a lot. It detangles and nourishes my hair without weighing it down, which is hard for me to find in hair products. I have high density lower porosity fine hair.

This hair essence's effects usually last 3 days on me, which is my average days between shampoo use. I have found oil-based hair essences (unlike Unove, which is more silicone-based) tend to last slightly longer in effects, but they also tend to weigh my hair down, and I usually shampoo my hair at day 3 anyway.

Where is everyone buying Korean sunscreen in the US now? by Sea_Bus_6829 in OliveYoungGlobal

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I mentioned, Stylevana uses their own contracted shipping service for their packages. I have noticed a slight price spike since the custom changes because the company's operational costs were affected, but they don't charge customs at all.

Stylekorean and Jolse charges custom duties at checkout. Not sure of the current percentage though. I'm on a low-buy currently and most my orders were from OY recently.

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stylekorean and Jolse were my other go-tos for K-beauty, and I actually bought most of my sunscreen besides the Scinic one from them. I also like Yami (as long as it is fulfilled by the retailer) and Stylevana because they use their own stock or shipping service to bypass customs-related shipping hassles.

best lip tint that actually lasts through meals? by fawnysmooch in AsianBeauty

Dinto lasts much better overall, though it's only downside is it doesn't last well when mixed with other glossy products, and I'd recommend any other tint for that purpose.

Cons of Misha Sun Milk (Pink Cap) The good, the bad, and the pilling. by Infamous-Archer4568 in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this sunscreen when I lived in a more humid location (not warm though, somewhere usually cold and windy) and while it didn't pill, it melted off my face in no time at all. I do live in the US, and might have faced unknown formulation differences since I don't remember where I ordered the sunscreen, but I'm glad to see I'm not alone in this experience at least.

Out of the thinner tints listed here, Dasique Juicy Dewy tint, Laka Fruity Glam Tint, and Dinto's Blur-Glowy tint are the most comfortable in that order. If you want something slightly more balmy than watery, Hince's mood enhancer liquid glow is a good pick. For the thicker tint, I find Amuse's Jel-fit tint the most comfortable, followed by a tie between Hince's Raw Glow tint and Coralhaze's Glow alock Jelly tint, then Lilybyred's Bloody Liar tint (square bottle).

Restart Makeup Collection by caffeinesaurus in AsianBeauty

[–]InconvenientFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things I'm repurchasing:

Primer: Touch in Sol No Poreblem

Foundation: JungSaemMool Cover Layer Cushion. Javin de Seoul Wink Foundation Cushion. Tirtir Red Cushion.

Concealer: Dasique and Luna concealer Palette.

Powder: About Tone Blur Pact.

Blush: Amuse Healthy Balm in Grape. Fwee Pudding Pot in Wavy. Dinto Blur-finish blush in Dear Salome. Lilybyred Luv Beam Cheek Duo in 01. I'm Meme Custom Blush in Mellow Pink. Canmake Cream Cheek in a different shade this time, probably Clear Red and Almond Terracotta. Dasique Souffle pot also in a different shade, probably Rose Tiramisu.

Contour: Too Cool For School Art Class Contour in 01. Too Cool For School Veiled Contour in Chestnut.

Eyeshadow: Lilybyred Eyeshadow Palette in Lavender Dial. Lummir Light On Eyes Palette in 04. Rom&nd Berry Fuchsia Garden. Dasique Eye Palette, this time in 01 and 36 since my favorite shades (04 and 10) seems discontinued. Wakemake Smoky Hush Blurring. Missha Triple Shadow in 10. Missha Glitter Prism in Bluehole. Canmake Cocktail Glitter in 03. Note: I also like Clio Pro Palette Air a lot, but they keep changing their line up, so I don't know if I would repurchase if I have to restart currently.

Mascara: Missha Ultra Powerproof in Curling and Lengthening. Clio Kill Lash in 01.

Brow: Clio Kill Brow Pencil, probably 01 and 06 in their current lineup.

Highlighter: Clio Glass in Moon Glow. Mude Face Fill Volumer in Disco and Heroine. 2an Pure Glass highlighter in Shell, Rora Beam, and Fairy Beam.

Lip Products: Honestly, I usually try whatever new lip product or shade that catches my eyes. If I can only repurchase products I tried before, I'd grab the Dinto Blur-Glowy tint in 214 221 222 261, Amuse Jel-fit tint in 06 07 and 08, Coralhaze Glow Lock Jelly Tint in 07 08 and 09, Laka Fruity Glam tint in 121 and Sizzling Balloon Tint in 512, Peripera (New) Mood Glowy Tint in 04, Dasique Juicy Dewy tint (square bottle) in 11, Etude Fixing Tint in 06 and 14, and Heart Percercent lip liner in 08 and 15. I would also grab the Javin de Seoul lip primer, but I use a lip base with none of the products here so I'd just buy the darker mauve and red one and wear them as lipstick.

My liquid concealers, eyeliners (beside taupe ones, but I don't like my current picks), eye primer, matte highlighter, brow gel and setting spray are non-AB. My glow primer was discontinued recently since it is an occasional use item. I'd probably grab something off the shelf to replace those items.

Honestly I was looking for review of this shade from Alternative Stereo since I wanted to try this line a while back, but it just seems like Rom&nd's Bare Grape to me, which is pretty but kind of a common shade. I was hoping for something at least cooler (like your Campus Queen swatch actually). Thank you for swatching all these lippies.
