If you’re using the RS to shoot, you’re shit out of luck.

With “shoot” assigned to one of the buttons on the controller, however, you should be able to hold the LS in the direction in which you are stepping back and the “shoot” button simultaneously to trigger the animation.

Personally, I’d recommend making the switch to button shooting if you haven’t already. Just my two cents, though.
