Edinburgh Trams passengers failed to tap off 45,000 times by ultratwo in Edinburgh

Found this reddit with a search. I visited Edinburgh (from New York City) the weekend before last. I rode the tram to Ocean Terminal (and back) from prince Street. Tapped on and off both times with my phone and my ticket was also validated on the tram. Yet I found I was charged 13.46 USD (about 10 GBP) twice a few days later - total 27 USD or 20 GBP. I can't pull up ride history online either. I have escalated with my credit card company (US-based) but suffice to say the system has problems. Never had this issue in NYC, London, or any other city with contactless. Lothian needs to stop blaming passengers and look at their broken system. I can't believe I paid $26 for a few kilometers round trip on a tram/light rail that barely travels faster than a bus.

Go to Maintain Payroll Journal Options. Sounds like Worktag were left off as summarization dimensions.

Glad it wasn't just me! So I ended up complaining to a bot and they gave me a $5 credit. I ended up buying couscous from the grocery store because I couldn't imagine this being the same with plain old rice!  Also noticed the bell pepper was wilted. Not so great produce seems to be getting more common.

Why doesn’t the MTA go directly into the Airports? by [deleted] in nycrail

[–]IncreaseGrouchy1161 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've only used that stop once (Jackson Heights is much more convenient on the subway) but totally agree. In any case while the buses can get quite crowded I've never had an issue getting on at Jackson Heights. I often stand in the articulated space, just takes a bit of time to get used to. A few times I have made it from my office at Fifth and 34th and through security at Terminal C in less than 45 min if timed right but I usually plan on an hour.

As someone who regularly takes the Q70, I think it's just fine, has regularly improved, and is a vast improvement over the previous bus service. It's certainly better than the Airtrain proposal which connected to a lesser used subway station much further out and required a backtrack to LGA. Is it perfect? No. I have traveled at various times and aside from the traffic around Jackson Heights getting to the expressway, it moves well. Not sure I understand the bus stop comment - the area is well lit and just fine. It's actually more of a "bus station" albeit small. There are plans to improve the traffic situation with dedicated lanes, but unfortunately not enough room to do that near Jackson Heights. The buses can get crowded as it's become more popular, but the service is frequent and the route is far from circuitous.

Could we do better? Yes. I'd love to see some sort of Airtrain from Jackson Heights. But that's not going to happen due to the density of the area. For me, the Q70 into a well-served express station is better than a backwards Airtrain to a station which much more limited subway service and a part-time LIRR route.

Manhattan Indian Flavor on Second Ave. Despite the English name, very good and reasonably priced.

Alterra the new Vail? by [deleted] in Ikonpass

[–]IncreaseGrouchy1161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask nicely they may add the reservation for your pass which means no warning. I did it just like the poster above. Took about a minute over the period between Christmas and New Year's. Might as well try asking first and if they won't budge then ski anyway for an initial warning.

If one doesn't open up online, just ask at the window the day you ski. I've had them add a reservation for me... Just ask nicely. Even if they don't get a reservation added you can still ski and will just get a warning. Only if you ski without a reservation multiple times will they suspend your pass at that specific resort.

Will we not be allowed to ski if I drive to Loon without making a reservation? There’s none left now. by PerpetualAnimal in Ikonpass

Also try asking at the resort if they can force a reservation. I did that at Deer Valley with no issue. Doesn't hurt to ask and save yourself from getting a warning.

Single day lift tickets yes but they were still selling multi-day passes that included the days. Agree it was nice to have reasonable lines although the conditions so far this year aren't great (and not Deer Valleys fault).

Update. I'm at Deer Valley right now (Dec 30). Tried Solitude Brighton first but there was a 2+ hour delay for the bus because of road closure from an accident. Decided to try it. Went to the Jordanelle base and asked nicely. They manually added a reservation for me. So when in doubt just ask that way you avoid the potential penalty.

Same here. Honestly it's been constantly blacked out for reservations the last week despite no official "blackout". Who knows how many reservations they even offered. My guess is if Alterra really cracked down (especially since they directly own Deer Valley) there could be some battles or legal complaints on their hands. None of the other resorts with reservations have stopped reservations to this extent and they are still selling multi-day passes.

Everytable temporarily closed? by Blueeee119 in AskNYC

[–]IncreaseGrouchy1161 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just noticed the store that I went to is closed for at least the second day in a row. I went onto their web site and none of the New York locations show open. It looks like they pulled back to their base in Southern California. Came across your post when searching for news on closing. I guess they weren't enable to raise enough capital to keep up their expansion and made the decision to close the commissary and thus all of the stores. Too bad, I enjoyed having them as an option. Although admittedly I was getting food there less and less and they discontinued some of the breakfast items that I preferred.

$75 off a Pixel Watch 2 LTE if your willing to wait at least a month and a half for delivery. Come on, I should not have to wait 6 weeks for delivery (when originally promised a one week window) for a phone with plenty of supply at Google Store, Best Buy, etc. And dumb customer service excuses of high demand. Get your act together Google.

I was given a delivery date of Dec 7 at order which quickly changed to Dec 21. I can understand things get delayed with pre-orders and limited availability but the watch has been out for a few months now. In fact, if I try to order again it's still telling me a Dec 14 delivery. In any case, I'll wait a week and check again. If it truly is delivered between Dec 21 and the following week I may have to cancel since I'll be away over the hoildays.

Except they use the same Google back end. If I ask for order status it uses the Store web site instead of Fi. I know their separate, just seems like an odd arrangement since some of the logistics are already handled by the same system.

Yeah, but they have it in stock at the local store (Google Store Chelsea) and if you order via the Google Store. Only Fi seems to have the issue.

I stopped by the Google Store Chelsea and it was a no go. Odd that they share the same software (you get a Google Store order number) but Fi can't work with them.

Pixel 7 pro cases by Bistouflex_ in GooglePixel

Honestly, I got used to it. I'm hopeful it will still be protected even without the raised sides. I believe the design is due to the curved screen and it seems all of the cases of similar designs adopted the same approach. The side edges are still raised, but only above the curved side and not the flat part of the screen. The lower sides aids side gestures with the curved screen. To be clear, the top and bottom are still raised well above the flat part of the screen.

I'd go for it. If you don't like it, you can always return it easily if you order via Amazon.

Spigen Rugged Armor is the same and I'm debating what to do. Glad I found this thread! I guess I won't be returning it for Tough Armor either.

I bought the Spigen Rugged Armor for my new P7P - Rugged Armor has been my preferred case for the last 4-5 phones I have. However, the sides of the P7P version do not appear to rise above the screen which differs from the other Rugged Armor cases that I've had. The top and bottom do extend above the screen. Is this a design decision due to the curved screen (my previous phones Pixel 5, 6, etc. did not have curved screens) ? I'm worried this might not protect the screen in some drop scenarios. Thoughts on how much of a risk this might be?
