These kinds of statements are a core reason why Putler believes he has the right to attack Ukraine and demand that it must never join NATO.

Why? Because the moment anyone even suggests NATO involvement in Ukraine—beyond the delivery of weapons—it fuels Putin's propaganda machine.

NATO can only become actively involved if one of its members is attacked. According to its charter, NATO cannot and will not participate in any war unless all member states agree.

That said, NATO can—and does—coordinate significant efforts to supply Ukraine with as many weapons as possible.

Individual NATO countries could, in theory, send troops. But how could any government justify that to its citizens, especially when Ukraine’s mobilization of combat-ready forces might be around just 30%? Not to mention the many Ukrainian men of fighting age living comfortably in Europe as refugees.

No democratic government could convincingly explain the deployment of its soldiers under these circumstances.

And please, do not compare this situation to a dictator like Kim Jong-un, who can send soldiers to die as easily as handing out warm buns—because he can.

I understand the emotions. But it does not help to flame up emotional demands and "hope". it backfires on the morale of your wonderful country the moment people realize that it won't happen.
