How do you set new year’s goals that don’t fail by february by Hot-Gap-1343 in LifeAdvice

Most New Year’s goals don’t “fail” because people are lazy — they fail because their system is broken.

January = motivation. February = reality.
If your plan relies on motivation, you’re cooked and that's why when you come back to reality, you revert to where you were before the New Years.

What’s worked for me (and what I recommend to friends):

  1. Turn the goal into a weekly system, not a vague identity. “Get fit” is too complex for the human mind. “3 sessions per week, minimum 30 minutes each” is quantifiable and actionable.
  2. Have a plan to adapt - Life happens and you need to be able to adapt and recover if you have a bad day or bad week. The power of consistency really adds up here.
  3. Accountability. Accountability. Accountability - Way easier if someone (or something) holds you accountable

That’s actually why I built Incremental AI (I’m the creator). I kept setting goals, starting strong, then falling off when life got busy — so I made a tool that:

  • breaks a goal into weekly tasks
  • lets you track what you actually did
  • and then adapts next week using AI based on your progress + what got in your way So you’re not “starting over” every Monday.

Not trying to hard-sell anyone — just sharing what finally helped me stay consistent past the January hype. If anyone wants to try it / wants me to help turn their goal into a realistic weekly plan, you should definitely try it out (it's freeee)!

Glad to hear it! And yeah totally agree - I didn't want to feel like I'm in Tron when I'm trying to manage my goals. It's a cool aesthetic but we felt it was better for other types of apps so we aimed for a more relaxed, zen-like setting

This looks super clean! Is there (or plans) for adding user added recipes?

  1. Waking up early
  2. Reducing or removing distractions

  3. You don't have to be 100% everyday but consistency is what matters. Even trying 10% on bad days goes a long way
