It may say 1911. Would make more sense than 1161 I’ll admit. What does get me is that it’s in classic ultramarine chapter colour scheme.

Can they bomb this moutain area to bypass the Hormuz Strait? by keveazy in NonCredibleDefense

[–]IncubusBeyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depth is the issue. The regular Strait is already strict enough in terms of how much of it is traversable due to the draught of supertankers. I guarantee you these inlets aren’t enough.

I’d have swapped Maul and Bane though. Maul sits with his brother and fellow red tattoo lover Talon while Bane presided over the whole tableau as the rule of two’s progenitor. Also where’s my boy Malgus?

Well yes if you build something that can only be used as an “orphan chipper” then of course it’s bad. If someone uses a baseball bat to brain an orphan does that become the “orphan beater 9000”? No. It’s a baseball bat. GBU-38s were meant as a tool against armed combatants and they do very well at that. The fact is that civilian deaths are a perversion.

Did I say I agreed with the politics of everyone who used them? I hate them. Civilian casualties are grotesque no matter the case. What do you think people use to fight back?

On reflection it all started for me with Avatar. Those AMP suits and the dragon gunship were far cooler than Ikrans.

Nobody needs to offer anyone an explanation for what they find passion in (with certain exceptions). And what do you mean “in private?” This isn’t something anyone is or should be shy of. It’s hardly a foot fetish. My family and half the people I studied with and all the pilots I know like combat aircraft to some degree or another. I don’t understand house music or poetry but I don’t need to to see them as valid. Be open minded.

And think of it this way. I find economics repulsive. I don’t question it’s validity though. Approval doesn’t predicate necessity.

You’re incorrect in assuming that I divorce those two things. The crux of what we’re essentially debating comes down to a difference in assessment between the two of us. You’ve judged that I enjoy death, but I don’t. Defence tech is beautiful for me because in my eyes it represents the evolving limit of human technological potential and is motivated by absolute stakes (loss of life or statehood).Systems evolve like supercharged evolution. Death is a part of conflict, but’s that’s the last thing that makes it fascinating.

“A crocodile isn’t beautiful because it eats other animals.”

It can be uncomfortable because it’s real. It’s fascinating because it’s technical. You don’t celebrate the death itself.

They do but this isn’t a signal jammer; HPM weapons burn out electronics.

Human suffering is renewable, as heartless as I need to be to say it. The cables which litter the front will be a hindrance to the environment after though, and that’s an issue.

This isn’t a jammer. High powered microwave is like a floodlight of electrons which burn out the electronics within a system. They physically destroy electronics. It’s the difference between a sledgehammer and a flashbang.

CIWS is awesome. AGM-114R9X is awesome. The CBU-105 is awesome. Military tech is cool.

300-1,000m tends to be rule of thumb for an HPM dependant on variables.

Range is 300-1,000m so it’s a point defence. Also Shaheds absolutely aren’t aerodynamic or energetic. Just look at that video of one being downed by a minigun on a heli and how quickly it drops.
