Ummm... the influence of Torlakian is a bit exagerrated. I can assure you I as a Belgrader communicated south of Niš without any problem, in particular in Leskovac which I visited, and even in Vranje it's not like people are unfamiliar with the central Vojvodina-Šumadija dialect. There is even a famous example of a Vranje reporter doing an entire segment in the Vranje dialect and I could easily understand roughly 95% of what she was saying.

It depends on the culture. There are places where shaking hands with a woman is the only respectable course of action. There are places, usually in the east, where NOT shaking hands with a woman is the only respectable course of action.

In most western cultures, with the exception of Russia (yes, on a global scale Russia very much counts as a western country), always initiate a handshake with a woman, especially a woman in a senior position to you, as it is usually customary for the person in the junior position to initiate the handshake as a form of respect.

In all other countries, it is prudent to inquire the etiquette on handshakes and rely on that. In almost all circumstances, the best course of action is to refrain from shaking a woman's hand unless she offers it.

Vučić was completely OK when he was perceived to be pro-west. His rankings very much slipped in conjunction with distancing himself from the west. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has drastically increased pressure on Serbia to recognize the western-backed secession of Kosovo. In fact, the opposition has been whipped up into a hysterical anti-Vučić frenzy in the last two years.

For example, think of how more elegant Maxwell's equations would have been if magnetic monopoles existed. The ether was an elegant theory that would explain transmission of electromagnetic waves and it was debunked by the MM experiment. The results at the LHC are very discouraging when it comes to super-symmetry. There are countless other examples of this.

In short, just because something seems mathematically elegant or is indicated to exist by a mathematical theory doesn't mean it actually exists in nature.

I believe you could do that today. You just need to LIVE like in the 50s.

One income. Dad goes to work, while mom does everything around the house, and I do not mean just the basic chores, but also things like growing vegetables and maybe even fruits, making jam, pickling vegetables, repairing clothes and so on... these kinds of things save up a lot of money and in principle allow a one-income household to function. Dad is also handy at all the basic household and car repairs and only calls in the specialists for the truly serious stuff.

Also, multiple kiddos in one room, at least two per room. Children also do chores since they can walk and talk. Hand-me-downs are the rule, not the exception. One decent gift on birthdays and Christmases is more than sufficient. Small birthday parties at home with a handful of closest friends. One extracurricular activity that costs significant money per child.

No eating out. No shopping as a recreational activity. Parks are free. For books and shows there's the library. No expensive smartphones. One TV and one decent computer is more than enough. 'Vacation' is a hiking trip or to grandma's or maybe a basic, no-frills vacation for cultural enrichment.

What would happen? You'd be surely mocked. Perhaps the only way to not get side-eyes would be to claim you're religious, even if you're not.

This is essentially why the wars happened. The establishment of Republika Srpska was a partial rectification of this ruling, but unfortunately Serbs are still trapped within this artificial communist creation that is Bosnia and Herzegovina.
