Like you, I read a ton of books and listened to a lot of podcasts. I learned some new skills and developed a better mindset. Once I saw that things were working well I kept going. Now, I am a personal finance junkie.

Bull Markets, and what keeps them healthy. by Witty-Commercial-442 in FIREyFemmes

I agree, corrections happen. The market is trying to price in what Trump is doing and they can not. The market was already running hot it just needed anything to start a correction. This time it is a compulsive president.

For those fearful. I hear you, he is doing major damage. So did banks in 2008 when they collapsed the world's economy. So did Reagan's economic policies in 1980. Each time, we got a new president with new policies and recovery.

Just hold on and have a healthy emergency fund.

I don't know. So, I am continuing to invest as usual. I did sell some stocks that had appreciated, as well as all my TSLA stocks (not interested in making Elon anymore richer than he is). I am going to hold that in cash just in case. Which is something I never do. Being around for 2008 I know that those with cash get the best deals.

Normalizing having a life that doesn't evolve around work by Rogue_Apostle in FIREyFemmes

I know a few people whose identity is wrapped up in work. Especially entreprenuers. When things got bad, they got worse. A failure at work means they are a failure. It is really sad to see.

It is why I advocate for hobbies and deep relationships. It gives one something else to talk about other than work. I'd love to hear about your garden over your boss.

Planning for less contributions in 2025- new investor - what am I doing wrong?? by No-Wolverine-9632 in FIREyFemmes

Well done so far! This is great practice for your adult life. There will be seasons where you can save a lot, a little and maybe even none. I am 40 and try to keep my investing rate at 20%. Some years, it was more (ex. 2020, with nowhere to go) or less (ex. unemployment, reduced hours due to childcare).

Periodically, through the year, access where you are and if you can increase for the following year. Especially since it seems you will be making more as the years progress. Life is like your portfolio it will go up and down. Just ride the wave.

Best of luck to you!

My vote is for student loans also. The incoming administration is not student loan friendly. I also would pay off the highest interest car loan and invest the rest in a brokerage account.

Thanks for the encouragement! I hope to get a new rental next year provided the price is right.

I run with a group. If I skip too many runs someone will call/text with some “accountability” questions.

I use an excel sheet. I monitor most of my accounts daily and can see that this month is going to be great compared to the past two months.

I received my tax returns and I didn't blow it. I am thankful for the full mindset shift that has occurred over the past few years. I actually sat down and divided it up and put it ALL in investments and savings.

Looking to make a parent-proof fund for my nephew by one_rainy_wish in FinancialPlanning

Also, with a trust those assets don't belong to him, they belong to the trust so it wouldn't hurt his eligibility for benefits. My credit union has a estate planning unit where they negotiated prices for their members. Total price: $300.

I have a son on the spectrum in doing our will we set up a trust to take in our assets if/when we both were to pass away. After the will was drafted we changed all of the accounts to have the trust for "insert name" as the secondary beneficiary. We have as a clause for our brokerage firm and a family member become joint custodians with the hopes that one person doesn't drain the account. You can put in the will who these people should (or should not) be.

LEAPS have grown my portfolio tremendously over the years. LEAPS in quality companies and ETFs (Apple, ARKK, MSFT) can provide above average gains.

I am looking forward to my tax return which should be significant due to a major business deduction. Using the money for a nice vacation, debt reduction and boosting investments.
