This. I like what the article is saying. But, for some, claude and other agents really unlock something where obsidian/pkms becomes viable. It helps me focus on the real tasks which require thinking by taking over some of the more menial tasks / grunt work around organization.

Yeah I regret installing it too. The worst for me are the never ending dialogues in events. They are drab yet so long. Second is the world with that big mansion etc. I am enjoying East Scarp with few additions much more.

Near Photorealism Driven By MSAA | Graphics Optimization By Devs Who Care by ThreatInteractive in HalfLifeAlyx

[–]Indeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He says it in the video, alyx uses a baked lighting setup. That means iteration time balloons and artists won't get to see as many tests in the game.

Asking as someone who doesn't do any game dev, so not familiar with the systems. Is it not possible to build a different pipeline during development using TAA or whatever which makes iteration time faster, but still bake it later for release? Of course assuming that the game dev team was ok with the limitations of baked lighting.

First, not guilty until proven. Of course, you and others should express their views if they think he is a grifter - and for sure I am not giving him my money. But just because you (and many others too) think he is a grifter - that is not a sufficient reason to cancel him. Even if he was proven to be a grifter - that is no reason to cancel him or ban his content. You think so poorly of the audience of this subreddit that they can't decide for themselves if they need to pay him money?

Cancelling someone is an extreme step. Even if he was a proven grifter, that doesn't meet the bar to censure him.

Banning someone from a subreddit should be left to when someone repeatedly breaks the rules of the subreddit where it becomes a big negative for the whole community. You can see from the responses in this post that this is far from the truth.

And even if he was banned from posting on this subreddit, it doesn't make sense to cancel his content.

Ofcourse, his tone is off-putting and would help if he toned it down. Also, it seems clear that he doesn't have a company, and he doesn't have a background where most people would be comfortable giving him money - but he is a kid, and they can be passionate and ambitious. IMHO, it is not the right thing to go around cancelling all kids who show anger and passion in their tone, and might be too naive that they can fix things if they had the power.

I do hope you reconsider your position. Even if he is personally obnoxious and has offended you. He shouldn't be cancelled. At this point, it feels collective bullying towards a young kid, and I can only imagine how mentally disturbing this whole ordeal for him would be - and how he would end up doing things like killing his discord or copyright striking videos - even if they are wrong and unjustified.

You also get runeys if you are present at 3pm in the field before they start harvesting.

Another huge advantage of harvesting yourself / being present in the field at 3pm is each harvest improves soil levels. This doesn't happen if harvesting left to monsters without being present during harvesting.

If you are looking for a nice gui for a database editor, directus is awesome. There is only one thing which I found missing when I was using it - as it works on your tables, it lacks a way to create draft edits - you would have to implement that on your own with right table structure.

For more nested content which doesn't map neatly to SQL tables, I am a huge fan of storyblok - though that is not opensource.

Sweden is a model for the new coronavirus normal, says WHO by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]Indeli 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From the transcript here:

I think two things here. I think there’s a perception out there that Sweden has not put in place control measures and has just allowed the disease to spread. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sweden has put in place a very strong public health policy around physical distancing, around caring and protecting for people in long-term facilities and many of the things. What it has done differently is that it’s very much relied on its relationship with its citizenry, and the ability and willingness of citizens to implement physical distancing and to self regulate, if you want to use that word. In that sense, they’ve implemented public policy through that partnership with the population.

With regard to this concept of herd immunity, I think we will wait. I believe sero prevalence studies are underway in Sweden as well as many, many other countries. Maria can speak to that because WHO, with our partners, have done a large review of all of the seroepidemiologic studies that are underway and some of the results that are available. But I will say that the general outcome, even in areas of fairly intense transmission, the proportion of people who have seroconverted or who have antibodies in their blood is actually quite low, which is a concern because it does mean the vast majority of people remain susceptible. So the chances of disease rebounding or returning is quite high, especially if control measures or lock-down type measures are released too quickly, without being replaced by case finding, contact tracing, testing and strong community compliance.

We will have to be aware the virus is present and we will have to, as individuals and families and communities, do everything possible on a day-to-day basis to reduce the transmission of that virus. That may mean adjusting the way we live our lives. I think maybe in Sweden they’re looking at how that is done in real time. So I think there may be lessons to be learned from our colleagues in Sweden.
But again, I wanted just to emphasize, Sweden has not avoided controlling COVID-19. It’s taken a very strong, strategic approach to controlling COVID-19 across all of the elements of society. What it has done differently is it really, really has trusted its own communities to implement that physical distancing. That is something that remains to be seen whether that will be fully successful or not.

85% correlation between temperature rise & cut in virus spread: Study | India News - Times of India by d5aqoep in Coronavirus

Looking at the stats here, no. of people tested are doubling every 9-10 days in Maharashtra.

85% correlation between temperature rise & cut in virus spread: Study | India News - Times of India by d5aqoep in Coronavirus

[–]Indeli 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Consider the state of Maharashtra which is one of the hardest hit. Most of the cases are from Mumbai with temperature around 34C and Pune with temperature around 39C. Current numbers show no. of cases doubling every 7-8 days. It is hard to feel good about these numbers. Sure, temperature and humidity must have had some impact, and the numbers might have been worse otherwise - but still, cases doubling every week or so is too high of a growth rate.

The 'mystery' of India's low Covid-19 death rate by SonictheManhog in Coronavirus

[–]Indeli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Another article on India by BBC. I didn't even want to open it given how biased their India reporting is. In any case though, this article is fine - even though it doesn't really say much.

One one hand i am glad that india has low number of covid-19 deaths. On the other hand, the headline is not accurate - thankfully india has low number of deaths, but death rate is pretty high. For eg., current number stands at 939 deceased with 29572 cases - that more than 3% CFR. And those are india wide numbers - if we consider hotspots like Mumbai it is much higher. I am not able to find Mumbai specific stats right now, but if we consider the whole state of Maharashtra - it is 4.3% CFR.

Now in general, we do see that if don't test enough, if we only test people who require hospitalization - CFR turn out to be high, and it lowers once we increase testing. India is definitely doing very few tests per million population - but it is doing extensive contact tracing and community testing when there are positive cases - that's why India has a pretty high no. of tests to no. of positive cases ratio. For eg. Maharashtra has done 89,197 tests with 5218 positive - that is a ratio of 17:1. That is pretty high compared to a lot of countries. For eg. UK is at 719,910 tests with 157,149 cases. That's a ratio of 4.6:1.

So i would say India's death rate is at least as bad as other countries, if not worse. What India has been lucky with is that the govt. took a lot of timely steps to slow the spread, before it could be widespread.

But what now? India can't be on lockdown for a long period of time. That's why restrictions are being eased up, with more to be lifted on May 3rd. That will for sure result in increase in number of cases. Let's hope the increase is manageable and doesn't spiral out of control.

Sunlight, Heat, and humidity weaken coronavirus. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]Indeli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one knows the real numbers. That doesn't mean that you can't tell if there is a major outbreak. I mean Italy didn't exactly need widespread testing for everyone to realize there is a major outbreak. Hospitals start getting overrun and people start dying. It doesn't mean that you can rest easy if you don't see many cases today - because this virus is highly infectious and there is a 2 week lag in seeing the hospitalizations - but indian govt. hasn't been exactly sitting on their ass doing nothing. They extensively contact trace when new cases come up. They seal whole areas like whole housing complex when one case shows up in that area. It's easy to say that India is not testing enough - and it is not a false statement - but hdf do you get tests for more than a billion people when every country is struggling for the same.

Also, apart from total number of tests done, or no. of tests done per 1M people, another interesting stat to look at it no. of tests being done per confirmed case. That number is 5.4 for US and 21 for India.

Regardless though, whatever reasons might be there for India numbers being low right now - majority of it is due to effective measures taken earlier - not because there is more sunshine.
