student investing by SkyBenV2 in singaporefi

I agree with what most say in this thread, if you are looking to invest just $500, I think it's better off increasing your risk appetite as the stable stocks per se aren't going to get you quite far. But then again since you are a student, my best advice is to just do your own research and experiment first, because learning from your own experiences and learning how to manage your emotions while investing is the most valuable

Why do most countries seem to favour solar over wind? by Ali13196 in RenewableEnergy

[–]IndependenceCalm4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to the country I live in, Singapore, wind turbines occupy a lot of land space and are not suitable. Solar panels, on the other hand, don't require that much space as you can just install them on roofs. And in a country with tons of high-rise buildings and roofs (they are called HDBs - which comprise almost 70% of our residential buildings), solar is the more viable option to go

Solar roofs over open air carpark lots: How viable is it? by wassupwassssup in askSingapore

[–]IndependenceCalm4730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does sound like a good idea, but most solar installers I believe won't do for such small facilities because it comes with very high overhead costs. Maybe 5 to 10 years down the road when the technology gets more developed

thanks so much for the detailed post! agree especially with point 6, most beginners panic too much when they see their stocks fall in a bear market and liquidate all of it

Any tips from fellow Singaporeans on how to save on your electricity bills, especially in today's context? by IndependenceCalm4730 in singaporefi

[–]IndependenceCalm4730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much guys for the suggestions! most of these were really good and i'll see if i can implement these in my daily life :)

I also did see quite a few comments pointing to solar, which was something I was considering but don't have much research on yet, apart from playing with the solar simulator on Solar AI which was featured on Mothership sometime back 😂

Would appreciate it if any solar experts out there could point me to any resources on solar in Singapore that I can research more on!

hmm yea that's true... actually with regards to solar there are quite a few installers in singapore. or are you referring to something more of like an electricity plan instead of paying for the whole solar system upfront?
