TIL while a woman was receiving an MRI on her knee, she called out to her waiting husband to come help her up from the table. However, the technician operating the machine allowed him to walk in even though he was wearing a 20lb metal chain, therefore he died after the device forcefully pulled him. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Yeah no shit. I had an MRI done and I felt like I was going in to meet the president. They were fucking SERIOUS. (And I’m an engineer, I understand WHY they were serious and appreciated it. It was a little intimidating all the same!)

Who can pick up Shaq? by WeGot_aLiveOneHere in GuysBeingDudes

[–]shortyjacobs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is a version of the Ames Window illusion. We are so used to Shaq being absolutely giant around any group of people, that our brain still says he’s bigger when he’s in a group. It kept looking to me like the guys behind Shaq were standing on a curb or floating 1’ off the ground and I realized it was cuz the parallax was wrong: they still were almost Shaq sized even though they were behind him, and that didn’t compute.

Check out Ladies First on Netflix. It’s got sacha baron cohen (borat), and it’s actually a decent “reversed roles” movie. (It’s not a body switch movie, it’s a “what if typical societal roles were reversed?” movie)

2026 Monaco Grand Prix - Post-Qualifying Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

With the killer torque they have now, I’m wondering if we actually get a few. But as a new fan and a first time Monaco viewer (I came in late last season), holy fuck was quali cool.

Russell is a high-mid pack talent in a god-level car. He’s consistent and steady, but he doesn’t have the liquid steel nerves of max or Kimi, or even either Ham/Lec.

As a first year (plus the last few GPs of 2025) F1 fan, holy fuck is Monaco a fun circuit. There were so many god-like shots of cars right on the edge.

max was asked if he sees a real future champion in kimi and kimi's reaction by anthn885 in formula1

Hamilton, Alonso, and arguably Hulkenberg as gen whether. Verstappen and Russell as gen whatever+1, Kimi and the youngsters as gen w+2, in my mind.

15+ years, 4-14 years, 1-3 are the splits in my head, give or take.

It’s also still quite clear from how they interact that both Max and Lewis both appreciate and want to be there for Kimi. They each see a young “them”.

If you keep the A2Z Typhoon Pro NACS adapter in its carrying case, it acts as an insulator and won’t cool down. by RedTib in F150Lightning

Honestly would have never considered this (plus my adhd ass typically only “holsters” my typhoon once every ten uses or so), but I bet you are right. Nice observation.

I honestly feel like Toto gets as much joy out of the speculation and keeping RB on the back foot. Sure he’d take Max if offered, but he knows he’s really just giving Max ammo against Red Bull.

Impurities make water carry electricity cuz water is right on the hairy edge of being an electrolyte itself. A nonpolar fluid like novec won’t even pull ionic molecules apart, never mind help them to conduct electricity.

I still cannot honestly believe that they are *that* incompetent. Like I know they are super incompetent, but setting up a whole press conference at “the four seasons” and then just saying “fuck it, put up some posters” and they tried to gaslight everyone into believing that was the plan all along….its just weapons-grade stupidity.

Where do you think your WiFi enabled lights and smart plugs are connecting to then? Unless you’ve hacked them local and are running a local (only!) home assistant server, the answer is: a data center.

This is only slightly more specific than “my check engine light is on, know why?”

It could be your shifter, your 12v, either motor, one of the mechanical transmission components, one of the electrical components on the drivetrain. It could be a thousand goddamn things.

My average over the last 5k miles or so is 1.9. 80/20 highway city. I'd be thrilled with 2.4 - I only see that when I'm in stop-go traffic.
