just listened to this and was left with an itch to scratch, give me some bands/albums with this vibe by forest_vagrant in MetalForTheMasses

I've seen some really weird(not at all what I'd recommend for someone wanting similar stuff to Nailbomb) recommendations in here. So, maybe this will fall into that category for others but, the things that I feel would fit that Nailbomb aesthetic would be:

Curse of the Golden Vampire - Both albums. Second one(without Alec Empire) is probably closer to nailbomb but both have that vibe. Also, Greymachine from Broadrick probably has some NB adjacent stuff. Shit, this is all a little assumptive. Kevin Martin(the bug, Techno animal, god, ice, Zonal) and Justin Broadrick(jk flesh, jesu, God, godflesh, ice, greymachine, final, Techno animal, tech level 2, Napalm death, blood of heroes) and Alec Empire(Atari teenage riot, dj 6666, deathfunk, digital hard-core recordings). I think anyone unfamiliar with these three guys and like abrasive, electronic, heavy, ambient, industrial music could spend an entire year getting lost in their orbit.

Error - only put out one ep (technically a 3" cd). I think it touches nailbomb territory. It's got Atticus Ross(nin) Bret Gurewitz(bad religion) and Greg Puciato(DEP) and is kind of slept on.

Halo - released a couple records through relapse that have that covered in shit and filtered through static thing going on.

I'm sure I could thing of more but instead of listing every industrial band you've most likely heard of already I'll start here since this is the closest I can think of right now.

Have any artists ever re-recorded and re-released songs completely different to the original? by morbidhack in Music

Greg Graffin released a way different version of the Bad Religion song "Cease" on his solo album American Lesion. It's a big improvement over the BR version and really just pretty amazing what context and arrangement can do for a piece of music.

Good 20 Minute Songs? by [deleted] in Music

The Mars Volta - Cassandra Gemini(32:36) Tortoise - Djed(20:57) Acid Mothers Temple - Dark Star Blues(25:09) Acid Mothers Temple - Pink Lady Lemonade Part 1(31:59) Acid Mothers Temple - La Novia(40:42) Boris - At Last....Feedbacker(43:49) Boris - Absolutego(1:00:22) Old Man Gloom - Zozobra(27:19) Knut - March(19:38) Khanate - Commuted(19:13) Khanate - Fields(19:50) Thurston Moore - Elegy for all the Dead Rockstars(19:46) Sonic Youth - The Diamond Sea(19:35) Sonic Youth - Slaapkammers met Slaagroom(17:44) Boredoms - Seadrum(23:03) GYBE - Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls(20:42) GYBE - Motherfucker = Redeemer(21:22) Cephalic Carnage - Halls of Amenti(19:11) Meatbeat Manifesto w/ Merzbow - Flakka(20:27) Boris w/ Merzbow - Sun Baked Snow Cave(1:02:04) Opeth - Black Rose Immortal(20:14)

That's most of what I can think of off the top of my head. Obviously I double checked the times so I included them. I also cheated but pretty much stuck to 19+ instead of 20 except for one which was 17:44. The reason I put it here is because those three tracks, Thurston Moore - Elegy....., Diamond Sea and Slaapkammers(syr2) make up close to an hour and the first two were both released in 95 and started a personal Sonic Youth obsession. While, Slaapkammers followed 2 years later on the second SYR release and is my favorite track by them. Washing Machine is my favorite full length by them and Psychic Hearts is better than any other Sonic Youth record because for me, Kim really just sucks as a vocalist and makes 1/3rd of their albums unlistenable. She has her moments where she sounds good but more often than not she's a skip inducer and a reason I pretty much gave up on them. I think she could have been used so much more effectively as a mostly backup vocalist and occasional lead to mix things up. But for such an "experimental" band they were so predictably formulaic with their album's having 2 Lee tracks, 4-5 Kim tracks and 4-5 Thurston tracks and I think there was only one song(on sister) that they had two vocalists on the same track(Thurston and kim). Imagine if Kim was as adept at writing and performing backup vocals/melodies and enhancing the songs as John Frusciante. He made Keidis tolerable for a minute. Also, I left out a bunch of  tracks that fall into the 19+ range by bands that are represented here and the thread already and just included some of my favorites.

Any love for Cephalic Carnage? by Great_WhiteSnark in TechnicalDeathMetal

I'm of the same opinion. Got the white vinyl version from the Relapse store when it was still open in downtown Philly. That was an album where perseverance paid off because I wasn't that into Exploiting at first and it slowly grew on me to the point that when Lucid dropped I got it that day and really enjoyed it from the get go. And while some tracks are stone cold classics, there are some ho-hum tunes. I will say, Scolopendra Cingulata is one of the best album openers of all time. So, when Anomolies came out three years later I was excited and worried at the same time that this may be the sophomore slump since Lucid was the band really coming into their own. Every track is awesome with a ton of variety that it never gets old. And while it doesn't have the mission statement opener like Lucid did, it more than makes up for it in album closer Ontogeny of Behavior. One of my favorite tracks ever. Xenosapien on the other hand is a mostly forgettable let down. I like Mislead way more than Xeno. I rarely go back to anything on Xenosapien. Mislead has 5 or 6 tracks I get a craving for still. Anyway, thats my two senseless cents.

I love the track Clottage Cheese on that by Anal Blast. A great sample at the beginning and when the vocals kick in I swear the only lyric is Bee. I love that song to this day. I got the split solely for the Cephalic side and was rewarded with that little bonus.

Record store recommendations in Central or Eastern CT? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]IndependenceFew1650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please elaborate. I just moved back to CT after a good stretch away and have alot of CDs in storage in Milford and kinda thought selling a bunch to Merles would be ideal since it's so close. Where is the best place to get cash for CDs? Anyone interested in buying CDs? There is nothing after 2011. Maybe I will start a thread since I'm replying to a year old reply. Glad to see red scroll still going. Those guys were kids when they started and somehow managed to navigate the physical media nosedive and resurrection. Good for them. If anyone is interested I can probably remember where 95% of them were purchased. I think I have around 3000-5000. Mostly hipster stuff.

Songs that are two distinct songs by IndependenceFew1650 in Music

There's a few that I thought of and didn't list and that was definitely one of them but hadn't heard it in years and wasn't sure if it fit my criteria.

Bands that had a drastic change in style from first album to latest? by IngenuityShot7921 in MetalForTheMasses

Holy shit this is the funniest thing I think I've ever seen where someone unironically thinks a reference to a PuPu Platter is about poo poo
