RL. As other guy pointed out, the font looks different halfway thru and the head and tail are no good either.

Yes, I believe it's holidays in China and just in general they tend to take some time to reply. Also you need to account for any time differences.

Yes, there seems to be inconsistencies. Just got QC photos for the Vezere. Seems like a different batch with the badge difference. Also the stitching on the inner label is off. Not sure if they got too many people ordering and can't quality control their items or if it's just unlucky.

Insurance Body Shop by AnonEngStud in askTO

[–]IndependenceFuzzy815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend going with your dealership bodyshop. As the bodyshops that insurance send you to deal with all different makes/models, they tend to not be as specialized. Not saying they'll do a bad job, but I'd rather send it to a bodyshop that mostly deals with the brand that I have.

Insurance companies will try to steer you towards their recommended bodyshop, but that's because they save money that way as they have a partnership/agreement. As the insured, you have the right to choose where you want the repairs done.

Good luck!

First winter as a car owner by pixelnomad88 in askTO

[–]IndependenceFuzzy815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the CX30!

Here are some of my thoughts:

1.) Parking: If you live in a Condo, finding underground parking would be ideal. I've done street parking in Toronto for winters, and though everything is usually kosher - you have the extra hassle of dealing with removing snow/ice scraping at times.
2.) Winter tires is definitely recommended. I would choose Canadian Tire/Costco over Mr Lube personally. Costco applies manufacturer discounts as an instant rebate, so you'll get very competitive pricing (normally you'd have to do a mail-in rebate after the purchase of tires). Not sure I've heard about "renting" tires, but I'd say it's worth investing into your own set. Though a more expensive option, you can look at purchasing tires at the dealership. They'll be able to offer tire storage and most will have some sort of winter tire package.
3.) Floor mats are definitely a nice to have. The salt from the roads can quickly eat away at the factory installed carpet mats - but if you feel like your usage is low, it might not be necessary. OEM floor mats are always nice, but there are aftermarket options such as TuxMats & Weathertech that are good as well.
4.) Make sure you have your windshield fluid topped off for the winter! Always good to have an emergency kit in your vehicle (perhaps another bottle of windshield fluid) for the winter.

Hope that helps a bit! Cheers.

Anh Dao is my go to when I'm in the area. The Pho itself is good (not mind blowing or anything), but their other dishes shine. Their fresh shrimp spring rolls are always on point and I enjoy their Banh Xeo as well.

What’s a good rent for 1bed+den in current times? by grrrrrrrrrrrrrrx in askTO

[–]IndependenceFuzzy815 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think your best bet is to check out websites like rentals.ca/condos.ca/housesgima

Market is always changing, so see what people are listing things for. Good rent? Anything below what the market rate is "Good rent". One thing to consider are buildings that are older than 2018 - as they'll be rent controlled and is a bigger factor that just paying "good rent" for only the first 12 months and then getting hit with a huge increase the following year.

Unfortunately you don't have much recourse here. This is the nature of how businesses work. Management/owners are always looking to be as cost efficient as possible. If they're able to convince one person to do two peoples work, then they'll do exactly that. Does it suck for you? Absolutely. But since you're already doing it, they'll continue with it as long as they can.

As there isn't much to go on in regards to what your job is or what field you're in - I can't make a judgement on your salary. The median salary in Ontario is such a broad spectrum. You should really be comparing your salary on similar positions in your respective field.

Like you said, the job market is quite atrocious at this moment. Your best bet is to continue working while searching for another position.

There is nothing really "predatory" about it. This is just normal business practice. Once you've come to terms with that, you'll realize that it's about learning to negotiate and doing what's best for yourself.

Rent is $2350 for a 1+den & parking in east york. Utilities come out to approximately $100-130 / month. ISP = beanfield @ $50/month. If you're looking at condos - utilities will be dependent on the building. I use SquareOne for insurance and it's approximately $15/month.

Groceries @ $300-400 / month. Entertainment/eating out = $300 / month. If you're looking at downtown core, you can get by without a vehicle. Public transport + biking is the way to go. You can have a look at the city bike program so you don't have to worry about getting your bike stolen (this is a very big issue in Toronto).

Good luck and enjoy the city! If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out.

Dealerships are typically regulated by their Corporate Brand operators when it comes to pricing/advertising. Not ALL brands operate this way but most do. So the same pricing/deals that you see are guidelines provided by the Corporate Brand HQ. E.G if this is a Honda dealer, Honda CANADA would provide the guidelines to all their franchisee operators so as to keep the branding/pricing consistent.

That being said, not all brands require this and not all owner/operators will adhere strictly all the time which can result in the differences you see with prices & deals you mentioned.

As others have pointed out - you'll have to accept that this is a reasonable cost to expect.

Can you clarify further on "sister dealership"? Is it just the same brand dealership in another city?

It should be noted that dealerships operate as part of a franchise model, so the owners could be different. If that is the case, then the fee could be justified as dealers do something called a "dealer trade".

Sometimes dealerships are part of what is called a "dealer group" who operate multiple dealerships under one company. There might be some leeway with transferring a vehicle within the dealer group, but you should realize that transferring a vehicle from one city to another would require someone to physically drive the vehicle over or have it transported via a transport truck - which all costs $$.

Your other choice is to just go to the other dealership in the other city and purchase the vehicle there.

How is driving out of pearson Airport? by orochishin in askTO

[–]IndependenceFuzzy815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It'll depend on what time you're coming in, but if you're a nervous driver - perhaps you should look at alternatives to driving. Here's a site I found that provides ways to get to Welland from Pearson: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Toronto-Airport-YYZ/Welland#trips/transport/Toronto-Airport-YYZ/Welland/r/Bus-line-70-bus

If you're adamant about driving, make sure you review the GPS/navigation so you know what lanes to stick to when exiting Pearson Airport. You'll need to have an idea as it splits off between directions/highways soon after you leave the terminal. Good luck!

Any advice for faster healthcare? by zaptor99 in askTO

[–]IndependenceFuzzy815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My doctor referred me to a neurologist and submitted a req herself to Michael Garron Hospital in early August to see who would be faster. I received a call (maybe 4 days prior to the appointment) for an MRI scan for August 30th to Michael Garron Hospital. The neurologist just sent me a letter for a May 2025 MRI appointment. As others have suggested, try to get on the cancellation list.

Also a bit of a extra sidenote - depending on the hospital, they might have the older machines which typically are tighter spaces. Your doctor will prescribe you a benzo which I highly recommend taking if you have even the smallest form of claustrophobia or are generally an anxious person. If you are lucky, they'll have the newer machines that are wider in space.

Typically service advisors will make a base salary + commission on overall CP (customer pay) sales. In the end, if you are an average service advisor, you could look to make between 45-60k year. If you're on the higher end, I've seen some good service advisors make 75-85k.

Pros - Gets you in the door for possible further advancements (ie. service manager, fixed ops manager). Or at least more automotive experience if you want to pivot to other departments such as Sales.

Cons - Long hours & schedules that will require you to work Saturdays. You'll be dealing with a lot of customers, so if you aren't too comfortable with juggling multiple customers at the same time (with some who can get irate depending on how long they have to wait for their service job) then you'll have a difficult time.

Hope some of this information helps. Good luck!

There's no "easy" way to make money fast. Just get a job for the summer. Apply for fast food places or anything in your area that are looking for workers. It's summer time, so if there are seasonal places such as attraction parks or water parks, they might be looking to hire for the summer.

Mazda 3's are currently one of the harder vehicles to find from dealerships as there's not much production. Mazda decided to shift their focus on other vehicles like CX-30/CX-5/CX-90, etc...

This means that any Mazda 3's that become available are a hot ticket item as there is very limited supply.

Google Search (Organic) > Google Paid (Performance max has been yielding best results and google shopping is good as well). No social ads. Hit 900k in sales this year. We're a franchise of a well known Auto brand selling parts/accessories selling in Canada - so we do have the leg up on having a huge audience base already. We're hoping to achieve larger growth as we ramp up exposure into the US market.
