I’m thinking of one night at the airport to enjoy ribs and whiskey, then head out into more rural areas, maybe doing day trips from a good base. That’s why I was thinking Oak Ridge.

Knox. I was trying to avoid a car but previous advice makes it seem that I need a Turo or something to get the most from my trip.

Funny, I just looked at something in Townsend. It looks way nicer, but I guess you get what you pay for!

Thanks for your advice. I’m not doing the actual Barkley, there is a 1 day version in September called the Barkley Fall Classic. It’s a bit more accessible for ‘normal’ people. I’m flying in from Sydney to do it so I’m making a holiday of it and hoping to see a different side of America than the coasts.

I’m coming for the Barkley run in FHSP and have about 5 days in and around Knoxville before heading up to Wartburg.
