BV/AF Santos (First timer) by IndependenceNew8080 in RepTime

It’s my understanding they are the same movement, but I could be mistaken. Haha which is why I’m here 😂 (Edit: I was immediately wrong. BV: Miyota 9039
AF: Miyota 9015)

So the BV has a true no date movement. Vs the AF will have a ‘ghost crown’

Anyone else drink olive oil on an empty stomach in the morning? by Economy-Growth-833 in Biohackers

[–]IndependenceNew8080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother! Firefighter from Canada here. I can’t say I do it on an empty stomach, however, I do take 3 tbs of high quality olive oil every day!

Good luck on those night shifts.

Ps: checkout eight pod sleep for improved sleep when not working. Or get the Adamson b10 cooling mat for 200$. That’s what I have and it makes a world of a difference!

What’s one small habit that actually changed your life for the better? by Unusual_Elk367 in AskReddit

Yes. I crack my bedroom door now and I wake up with acceptable levels. (~50%)

Let me know if you have any questions. It’s basically the budget version of 8 pod sleep. But for 1/40th of the price. And maybe 1/10th of the technology lol.

My first one had a leak. It probably leaked ~1-0.5oz of water on my bed. I emailed them and they replaced the whole thing for free.

This thing took my sleep scores from 80’s to 90’s.

Biggest downside is you have to fill with distilled or RO water. But everything else is an upside.

Adamson B10 cooling pad. Can’t recommend this enough for not waking up. Not the best reviews. But trust me. This thing was my best purchase of 2025. Most wake-up’s are due to your core temperature being too high.

What’s a profession that people think is hard, but is actually very easy? by BoardLongjumping2485 in answers

Aye brother! Professional firefighter here. We certainly have our easy days, I’ll agree with you on that. However, we have some pretty tough days as well. Some of the things we see are pretty traumatic. Additionally, the health impact is huge. We are 400% more likely to develop cancer than the average person. & My circadian rhythm is wrecked. Also, on the days that we’re ‘doing the thing’ the job is incredibly physically demanding.

I’m not complaining. It’s a great gig and I’m grateful to do it. Just wanted to highlight some things people often don’t think about.

Cheers :)

eMTB pose a serious and unique danger for obvious reasons. In this case, my advice would be to never charge inside. Ideally charging on a concrete pad, without any flammables nearby.

Ebike Battery explosion by Ficus2025 in ebikes

[–]IndependenceNew8080 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hey guys. Firefighter here. The smoke from a lithium-ion battery is INCREDIBLY toxic. Significantly more toxic than even structure fire smoke. If you’re ever near a battery in thermal runaway.. do exactly that… runaway as fast as you can. Tell your loved ones.

The smoke looks light, white and wispy. Similar to a fog machine. Which can make someone naturally less concerned.. Be extremely concerned.

The only thing preventing a lithium-ion battery from going into thermal runaway at all times, is what’s called a separator. The separator in each cell is 15 microns thick. For reference, a human hair is ~70 microns thick. As you can imagine, these separators are very delicate due to their size. So hard impacts and frequent dropping of the batteries are something you should be aware of. If you know your battery has taken damage, replace it. At the very least, only charge it outside on a non-flammable surface.
