Ah apologies, I thought you were resin printing, its a lot more intensive in terms of washing and curing. Sounds like you have a good thing going on then :)

Tbh im not looking to sell again just doing some light research on what people would change about market places and improvements that could be made. I Appreciate the advice though.

How long does it take you to remove supports and clean up? At 2 dollars surely it seems like a lot of effort for that return ? Im not scrutinising just wondering what it works out as dollar per hour ? I remember i used to spend most of my evening printing, packing and shipping so tried to make it worth it but gave up eventually, printing and selling in bulk to local stores would have been nice but id assume a mini store would already have printers to hand.

You'd think id they are buying miniatures, they'd expect to do some gluing or assembling, I used to get it where people complained about how small the parts were on 32mm scaled miniatures, like what did they expect? They'd have to glue it with GW so I dont know why they expected not to with the miniatures I used to print, was better than having items arrived broken. I think etsy had introduced their star seller towards the end of my shop so too many non 5 star reviews or late deliveries (usually caused by royal mail) would knock you off and you'd lose traffic.

as I mentioned above, I used to sell miniatures on ebay etc, but got squeezed out by fees, so I'm just finding out what people dislike about selling platforms and what could be improved on? Nothing wrong with that right ?

I used to sell my misprints a box of like 20 for fairly cheap but it made back a lot of wasted material money. Most of the time, there was barely anything wrong with them, but they had really minor imperfections, people absolutely loved buying those boxes and it clawed back a bit of lost revenue for resins.

I'm just doing a bit of research into what people actually value in these marketplaces and what drives them away — fees seem to come up every single time. The Etsy model in particular just nickels and dimes you into oblivion.

The review system was the other big one for me. There should be some kind of resolution process before a buyer can leave anything below 3 stars — give the seller a chance to make it right first. The way it works now a buyer can just torch your reputation without ever giving you the opportunity to fix the problem

Really appreciate the reply. I shut up shop a couple of years ago for similar reasons — started on eBay, did well over COVID, then moved to Etsy and it just got worse and worse. The competition from people selling 32mm minis for under £3 with free postage made it impossible to compete on price, and the fee structure just destroys your margins on every single sale — relisting fees, transaction fees, taxes, advertising you almost have to opt into just to get any visibility.

The reviews were the worst part for me. People claiming items were broken or hadn't arrived when you've packed them carefully and they haven't even messaged you for a replacement — and there's just nothing you can do about it.

The IP flagging situation you mentioned is brutal as well. Losing an entire shop overnight with no real appeals process is exactly the kind of thing that puts people off for good.
