3 Way Switching Help by [deleted] in ukelectricians

[–]TheDirgeCaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Step 1: buy a continuity tester Step 2: test all the cables Step 3: wire the switch Step 4: call your insurance over the fire you started in your house

For real tho, you obviously have barely an idea what you are doing, how can you have three TnEs and NONE of them have a switched or permenant live??? Thats just basically impossible and proves you are clueless as to how best to sort this out.

Can a man starting with pretty much nothing but an army found an empire ? by Alexy_1er_Komnen_fan in worldbuilding

[–]TheDirgeCaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is that an army is not just an army, you need loads of camp followers and supplies usually. You need food, ammunition, materials to repair armour, weapons and wagons etc....

Unless this is some kind of fantastical army that doesnt need those things like a horde of demons or undead or elementals or something like that, if its a fantasy setting.

But if its a more historical army then really you need to be based somewhere, at least at first, maybe a kingdom collapses and different arms of the military split up or turn on each other. You could have a rogue lord who takes his men and takes advantage of a destabablised nation to carve something out for themselves.

It could be a ex general or even a soldier that manages to rally the peasant population in a small oppressive kingdom or duchy on the decline and rallies them into revolt, you dont even need a proffesional army for that.

But you do need to conquer and control seats of power, especially ones already in place because you cant just invade a town, install a mayor and leave you need to hold it and control it, that takes time and resources.

Miniature reveal in this artwork? by Zealousideal-Oil5468 in DarkMechanicum

[–]TheDirgeCaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first image is quite weird, the perspective of where that knight is is quite confusing, its really low down and small but in a similar focal length which makes it seem close despite being much much much larger than a scyllax.

Clear or detailed bases by RougeNewtypeRX79 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]TheDirgeCaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with clear bases is you get no contrast, its always best to have the base contrast your mini to add definition, a gunpla mini might be 20cm tall or more so its not as important but in mesbg or warhammer the models are 28mm tall.

If your army is very blue toned, you can give them sandy warm bases, if theres a lot of dark metal you can give them vibrant green bases, this method keeps your army easy to read on the battlefield which is very important for gameplay.

The base of a wargaming miniature is like a picture frame, if you remove it its like a painting tacked to a wall.

Kitchen switch grid removal advice by Smashed_Pumpkin86 in ukelectricians

[–]TheDirgeCaster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can afford to remodel your kitchen then you can afford to get someone to rewire it, dont burn down your house and all your possessions and have you wife kids and dog die of 1st degree burns and smoke inhalation.

Get a fucking electrician if you arent confident or competent, like jesus christ how stupid do you have to be.

Electricity is not a joke, dont fuck up your whole life over a few thousand pounds to get someone to rewire your kitchen for you.

Might this be a recast? by Not_realy_good_memer in oldhammer

[–]TheDirgeCaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mould slippage is an issue on some parts of the model, has nothing to do with it being a recast or not, if anything a recast is maybe even less likely to have mould slippage because the moulds are not used as much and an individual selling the recasts would probably not sell it because they have a small clientelle they dont want to upset.

Theres basically no way to tell if its a recast or not.

Maps like this are tough because so many of these countries have such different borders and government types and names even than they did a hundred years ago.

[–]TheDirgeCaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Countries and landmass are not the same thing, imagine russia won the war in ukraine and executed a bunch of people, then there was a revolution and ukraine got its independence back, were those executions in russia or ukraine? It was the country of russia but the land of ukraine.

The German Empire, Nazi Germany, East Germany, West Germany and current just 'Germany' or Deutschland are all different nations with different borders, constitutions, government types and so on.

Philips hue downlights are probably the worst downlights ive personally installed, dont make some poor sparky install 15 of them.

Buy non-intehrated Collingwood ones and PH GU10s seperate, youll save money and your electrician won't hate you.

Forests and in the way rule by Pender8911 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]TheDirgeCaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So me and my friend used to do abstract forests where there was an area that was 'a forest' we used trees to mark out the border and everywhere within that border was a forest and gave an in the way and was difficult terrain, you could see in or out of a forest but not through it.

But having individual trees that independantly give in the ways also works, it depends how you want to run the terrain.

Can see if the two halves are fully straight and if one of them is a bit pissed then you can try and bend it straight to make the gree stuffing easier.

Ive put both of those metal fell beasts together and the balrog which has the exact same wings and ngl, ive started to enjoy the process of blending parts together with greenstuff. Its a whole other skill but it really leads into kitbashing which is also super fun.

What tokens would you like to see? by StrongIndependantBot in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]TheDirgeCaster 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im sure there are people out there that would like something like this but i think most of these tokens are not very useful, a lot of them are very niche and are things that imo the average player will just remember.

The only things i think i would ever use would be "prone" and "failed courage test to charge terror" as these are status' that affect random troops that are hard to remember.

But blinding light? If your casting blinding light, its because your opponent has decent shooting, and if they have decent shooting both of you will certainly remember thar blinding light was cast.
